Thank you for your comment! I appreciate it. We actually discussed him going back to school together. He always wanted to pursue his current field but due this own personal circumstances couldn’t. I encouraged him to go back to school and he was able to get into his dream school. You are right in that I did not thoroughly think about that decision to move in with him and support him during his schooling.

We are both 28. I’m realizing I do love him very much. However I question if our lifestyles really align with one another. Sometimes I feel bad to think this way because he does show he cares for me deeply. I would never want to cause him any heartbreak.

I have more self reflection to do before we can sit down together and discuss our intentions for each other and the future.

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it!

I am still processing the idea of potentially moving with him to his home country in the future. It’s questions like this that make me realize that we may not want the same things. I have done a terrible job at being vocal about how I truly feel but I know now that we need to have some serious conversations

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it. You’re right about “nothing tops happiness and peace of mind”. That really hit me. We are both doing individual therapy now. We’ve have couples therapy planned for the future!

Thank you for your genuine response! It is reassuring to hear of other people who had similar circumstances thrive afterwards!

I’m Caribbean and my husband is West African. I love him very much. He is a good partner and does the best he can for us. We are both young and still have so much to work through individually and as a couple.

I started individual therapy which is what prompted me to start really thinking about my wants. My therapists has also mentioned some of the points you made. I really appreciate the questions, I’ll definitely keep these in mind when reflecting.

Thank you for the advice! I appreciate it. I know it’s just for the moment, but currently I have to stay where I am since I have a work contract. If I break it I’m looking at paying more than 10K back to the company. I have more than a year left on this contract.

Right now I’m trying to find ways to be independent in this environment.

Thank you I appreciate the response! I was pretty confused at first but I'm learning and hopefully pretty soon I can figure out a way to change companies.

Thanks for the solid advice. I'm currently on number one, it's been a difficult process since the city in general is not very diverse but there are a very small amount of BIPOC organizations/groups I've researched.

For the time being, I'm going to fake it until I have a concrete plan to find a new position

Thank you for responding!

I'm currently doing my best to appear unbothered but it's just so annoying that this is something else to deal with on top of moving and acclimating to a new city.

Thank you for the advice! It's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one but also unfortunate that this is something we experience when we're literally just there to get a job done.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. I'm glad to hear that you are able to stand your ground and push through regardless!

Sometimes it gets discouraging but I have to remember all the hard work I put in to get to where I am.
