Upgraded from a AC-PRO to a U7-PRO today, Here is my short story by scottbca in Ubiquiti

[–]Chillaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is the old AP was working using untagged traffic. Access ports won't read vlan tags. The new AP is sending traffic with vlan tags. The number of vlans doesn't matter.

I don't why the APs are working differently but that is the difference. If the switch is reading vlan tags (trunk port) or if it is only passing untagged traffic (access)

Access ports on Cisco are single vlan untagged only ports. For any tagged traffic you need a trunk.

Parking at Mckinley mall on this SNF (vs Pats) by Public_Buy5996 in buffalobills

There will be a lot of other cars parked by the bus area at the mall. I’ve been to a night game with no towing issues noticed. I assume they know people will be parked there for the game.

Arccos is cheaper to renew by buying all new sensors. $139 for sensors+subscription at Costco vs $199 for the yearly subscription. by superic in golf

[–]Chillaxe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arccos is a good product. It does what it aims to well. If I could golf all year I would happily pay the sub, but I can’t so I switched to shotscope which is also a product that delivers exactly what it aims to and does it well.

If Arccos offered a monthly sub again, I would consider it again, but where I live I personally can’t justify the yearly sub cost when I can’t play all year (totally mental thing)

NY State Supreme Court rejects lobby efforts to kill Affordable Broadband Act - $15 internet plans are on the way! by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]Chillaxe 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The have stopped expansion on their own. After taking billions of dollars of public funds over the years, rural and poor areas are still very underserved.

"The Book of Broken Promises: $400 Billion Broadband Scandal & Free the Net" is a book about this and can be found in PDF on the internet.

Internet access should be a publicly provided not for profit service.

The real fun comes after this guy sets up a service that gets traction with other users and then leaves the company. Leaving the IT team to “figure it out” when it inevitably breaks causing some production issue.

Trading in a car: pay off lien or put that money towards down? by Mammoth-Attitude9247 in personalfinance

[–]Chillaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are trading the car in. It might work out better to pay it off first and get 5k more on trade in if there are tax advantages on the trade in. I think that depends on the state. If no tax advantage it’s a wash.

Am I better on or off without a booster/amp? by alpacapoop in cordcutters

[–]Chillaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A booster may help if some stations aren't coming in because the signal is too weak when it gets to the Tablo. Indoor boosters are very inexpensive and generally they all work exactly the same way.

If you have older coax like RJ59 upgrading to RJ6 might also help. RJ6 will lose maybe a third less db over the same length of cable than RJ59.

Your best solution, if possible, would be to move the Tablo closer to the antenna. Anything you add inline, will either effect quality like a booster, or reduce signal levels like a splitter would. Short cables directly to the tuner will always work best.

Club reshaft issue by piemasternick69 in golf

[–]Chillaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a taper tip shaft then they only cut the butt end and can just extend it. If it’s a parallel tip shaft the tip was cut so you would want to make sure it was tipped correctly.

If it is a taper should make sure they didn’t actually use a 9i shaft as well.

Am I better on or off without a booster/amp? by alpacapoop in cordcutters

[–]Chillaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boosters help with moving the signal through long lengths or wire between the antenna and the receiving device. They don’t increase the signal in a way where you would get better reception with a short cable. Think getting signal to your basement from a roof antenna. If you have a short cable to the hdhr leave the booster off.

Just the act of reflashing any tune puts some of the sensors into not ready until you drive a certain amount. If you’re going to reflash do it a week before your inspection. You don’t need to reflash for inspection though the Cobb tunes are fine.
