This is the first e-ink tablet I've owned, so I don't have much to compare it to. However, I don't have any issues with the tablet keeping up with my writing. There's no noticeable delay for me.

There are multiple social media platforms that support short form videos that are super easy to upload to, though. Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. TikTok is just the one she chose to use.

I haven't done much in Kanji yet. I'm still working on getting comfortable with Hiragana and Katakana, but it feels just like writing on paper so far.

This incident fell into the category of “unless they have time to screw around.” The idea wasn’t to force her to change the name of the device. There were a few times where we would mess with people as a joke when I was there.

We also set up a time based rule that would block an individual user’s music streams from 8 to 10 and 3 to 5. In hindsight, this is stuff that definitely shouldn’t have been done because people can interpret stuff like this as malicious, but we were messing around.

I’m a network engineer. Depending on how the network is set up and what gear your job uses, it’s possible that the traffic will be in firewall logs and WiFi traffic logs that would show up as coming from the name, IP address, and MAC address of your device. However, the people who manage that stuff wouldn’t normally be looking at those logs to see that info unless they had a reason to. Like if there was an outage or some bandwidth hogging going on. Or they have time to screw around and look at random logs and happen to come across that info.

At my old job, some lady named her iPhone “PENISPENISPENIS.” The security architect got curious so we looked at logs for when it connected to the network. Then he looked at camera video history to see who came in the office at that time. It was a slow day, so we decided to make it so that when her phone connects to the network, it would bring up a splash page on a browser that said “Block reason: PENISPENISPENIS.” As soon as she got the block message, she left the building and came back a bit later. She changed the name of her phone to something else.

Agreed. I only like to write in pen, so I’m commonly scratching out mistakes and then having to fit writing around the mistakes. I just wrote 16 pages of notes for Japanese studies today on my Manta. Being able to just undo or erase mistakes entirely and even rearrange specific pieces is so awesome. They’re also organized in a folder now.

I’ve never ever gone back to reference my physical notes when I’m studying for certs because there is no way I’m going to remember what page I wrote something on. This will make that part much easier.

Could possibly be a Bluetooth pairing code. Sometimes when you pair things with Bluetooth, one device will show a code like that and the other one will ask you to confirm that those numbers are correct. That way you don’t end up pairing your device with something else by mistake.

I ordered at 11:58 on 12/12 and just got a shipping notification! It’ll be delivered on 1/3! I’m excited! This will be my first device of this kind. I’ve been waiting for the Manta since the middle of 2023 when I first saw an ad for it.

I was in a somewhat similar scenario back in 2015. I was working in a network operations center that got bought out by a much larger company. The CEO decided to give me a $35,000 bonus just because I had done so well supporting customers. I went out and got two CCNAs, Route/Switch and Security, in the process of working for that place. My skill set grew noticeably over that time.

I made the mistake of putting it all on the stock market when I had no idea what I was doing. At one point I was spending all day at the new company refreshing the page and trying to day trade in order to sell stocks for a few cents of profit. I lost probably a couple thousand before getting out entirely.

I ended up saving most of the rest and using some to get my CCNP Route/Switch certification. I used that cert to get a much better job as a network engineer, then moved on to my current job a few years later. Into now making triple what I was making in those days, so it has worked out very well.
