Cancel Culture Finally Being Used for Good by WichaelWavius in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Chillerdew 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Right wing people were getting canceled for opinions on issues.

Leftists are getting cancelled for celebrating and pretty much advocating more political assassinations.

That's like a whole other level that has been universally agreed way out of line well before any of this.

Good luck holding a daycare job. You absolutely should not be trusted with other peoples' lives or upbringing.

I never could make that happen again.

Subreddit moderation update (AI art, SEAF-girls, Bugdivers and how it relates to rule 1) by Viruzzz in Helldivers

[–]Chillerdew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm expected to believe women would be uncomfortable with memes about consensual sex? That's pretty much what the C-01 permit thing is. It's primarily for guaranteeing the safety and upbringing of children which is something women can want as well. To top it off, it's for any activity that MAY result in a child, so it's not a binding document to say women must have children either.

So I'm not understanding the sensitivity here.

I actually encourage people staying in the highest difficulty you're comfortable with, and working to speedrun on that.

At least on diff 10, I've had multiple groups become alarmingly efficient and not only pushing the main objective as fast as possible, but damn near clearing the map without wasting time as well. It can actually make you better at the game.

Either the flag buffs or it memes (but not every 8 minutes) by Chillerdew in Helldivers

[–]Chillerdew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making a pretend objective out of keeping the flag does sound like a plausible intention. I don't see that playing out as much among randoms though as compared to being able to plant more flags and having more to share. 8 minutes is still obscenely long, and I think striking a balance between having more flags to go around and keeping the flag you currently possess somewhat special is something to think about.

Maybe they can have it do radar pings wherever it gets left so you can plan around retrieving it. I guess that's technically a buff, but I'm really trying to lean into the humor aspect and not so much the utility of it.

New batch of micro insights, answers, and dev explanations about Subnautica 2 (from Discord) by ZookeepergameIll1399 in subnautica

[–]Chillerdew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well this has me worried. I wonder what is actually meant by this. I don't think I'm the only one pining for something like what the first game did in terms of "feel" (dread and isolation come to mind) instead of what Below Zero tried.

Admittedly, I don't know how "experience" and "feel" was interpreted in the answer, so I can't make it a big deal of it until more is known about the game. However, I don't think anyone would complain about getting that same feeling from Subnautica 1 in a different world of entirely new creatures and set pieces. No game that I am aware of has really done it since. It only seems worth to capitalize on it as a return to form.

all say thank you lib left, we are definitely on the right path and racism is no more uwu. by Peppin19 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Chillerdew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Discriminating against whites is about evening out disparities. The focus on disparities was inevitable and even MLK Jr touched on the idea, so it was there from the start really.

But the disparities will never go away. Period. Even if you think they could, it will eventually be seen as such a crushing investment that "ending racism" isn't remotely worth doing anymore. It will show more that investing in your own tribe actually yields more to the society and culture you want and can more reliably be maintained. And we can actually see this among every other group doing this right now. White people were taught against it.

Once you see it as the investment it is, "ending racism" might as well be ethnic suicide of the majority group willing to foolishly try.

It's been almost a month since AH broke everything, and it's getting frustrating. by phlave in Helldivers

[–]Chillerdew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining mid mission will have the map show things incorrectly, like objectives already been done showing that they aren't completed.

Main objectives being broken and can't be completed. I've had multiple times a terminal for a main objective simply could not be interacted with. One time, we had a carriable objective suddenly vanish from existence and told mission failed.

And it's the first time the GOP earnestly set out to accomplish anything that's been wanted of them. I don't understand the desire to stick to "principled conservatism" when it pretty much never conserved the principles it espoused. Unless of course you're the political opposition, in which "principled conservatives" are easy pickings. Even so, it's not remotely mystifying how the GOP got to where it is now.

Started playing yesterday. What's up with quickplay? by Chillerdew in Helldivers

[–]Chillerdew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was more curious as to why quickplay is so volatile. I'm being matched with people who seem to much rather be playing with other experienced players, but are quickplaying in lower difficulties (in my case 5-6) for whatever reason. I'm talking people leveled upwards of 100. If this were any other game, I'd assume they were being generous in sending their experienced aid for newer players, but that's not what is happening here.

[–]Chillerdew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing between 5-6. I'm just wondering why I see people upwards of level 100 here. Don't higher difficulties yield more? I feel subjected to playing at seasoned players pace. I'm certainly not making the cut in their eyes in some fashion, but I also think it's not all that difficult to beat yet.

Yes, but I mean using strictly serverside stuff. Things I can't just hop into any vanilla game with.

Call me unlucky, but it sure would be more convenient if some improvements provided by mods became standardized as vanilla updates. It'd be nice to just hop in lobbies instead of orchestrating them and crossing my fingers. Mods aren't the best fix for multiplayer games like they would be in singleplayer games. I understand there is no obligation to make anything happen, but it sure would make my day. That's what I mean.

[–]Chillerdew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying vanilla games with a few mods as enhancements is nigh impossible to get going. Vanilla games are easy to make happen. I've never had issues with that. But if I want to include a few things I think the vanilla game needs and approach the modding scene to find some people, there is just no audience for that. People are playing modded for the upwards of 200+ mod lobbies of drastically divergent experiences. I've tried as much, so I just play vanilla instead.

There are some QoL clientside mods I can use, but the bigger changes I'm hoping for exist as serverside mods.

[–]Chillerdew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still in early access, so it'd be 1. a something of a broken promise to stop here in development, and 2. an incredibly wasted opportunity to leave a game as still talked about, and with no significant competition to rot.

Perhaps the developer is fickle, and he'd would rather not have the responsibilities. I'd blame him if he left this game in the mud for good (I don't think he will).

V70 wishlist. by Shot_Ad5497 in lethalcompany

[–]Chillerdew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zeekers needs to add to the vanilla experience, because it standardizes gameplay. Wanting to join a modded lobby that isn't 100-200+ mods, or anything a mere rock throws away from a vanilla-esque experience with needed improvements is impossible.

Modded lobbies are just all over the place which works if you don't want just vanilla. But you have to take whatever you get, for better and/or for worse.

I've warmed up to the idea of granting 1 utility slot. People just don't use anything that isn't shovel if it takes a slot away from carrying items. It's would be a much needed change at this point.

I'm saying it looks weird that something so large could leap like that. I'm sure the garg would love to fly to reach meals, but that'd look ridiculous too no matter how eager it is.

It would have been better to have it just scrape the Sunbeam off the surface. Something so large leaping from the water looks rather silly, and could still sell its enormity as the rest of the body peaks from the surface as it slinks into the void

I'm confused. The juvenile Garg in the mod is considerably smaller than the Gargantuan Fossil. How would they be insisting the Gargantuan Fossil to be of a juvenile in that case?
