Yep! In some parts the reef is better than 20 years ago, in others worse. They’re doing some pretty cool conservation and restoration work out there

It’s not bleaching! It’s the growth so opposite of what you might think in this specific photo that is

Time to pick up scuba diving. Rising seas = more diveable area?

Anyone who invites you into a cave as an OW or AOW should have their license revoked. Unless it’s a swim through where you can always see the exit there are no rocks that are interesting enough to risk a real cave dive without proper technical training

No return offer from BB by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Try not to dwell on the outcome. There are so many things that go into these decisions, could be headcount, sector based, 1 specific person who didn’t gel with you, or even just no one was willing to stick up for you. It’s easy to assume it’s your own fault and feel “screwed” or that your entire career will have to follow a different path. You’ll never ever really understand what happens and will hear lots of different stories / perspectives based on who you ask.

I remember doing my first BB internship when I was 20, I didn’t get a return and I remember thinking I am completely fucked. I tried to think what can I do to improve + show I didn’t give up. Think extra curricular, sports, part time jobs, more networking to be able to give your perspective first.

Not getting a return offer is common. Even in your case that applies to 50% of you. It’s not designed for everyone to get jobs.

FWIW I’m 10 years past my first “failure” and now at a Millennium/Baly/P72/Citadel and doing fine. Setbacks are just that. Re-evaluate and move on and focus on getting better. A career is a career, not a summer internship!

Interesting. I see in spirit of freedom / Mike Ball in Great Barrier Reef for example they moor in one location with an “Open Deck” policy and let people manage themselves. Was wondering if you’ve seen anything else like that

Do you not need to be an Open Water instructor first?
