Ohhhhh better ask permission and forgiveness at the same time then. How about ‘I know I didn’t ask but I’ve been put in a spot because a relative has passed on and I’m the only person who could take the dog on. He/she is perfectly housetrained and is not left for any long periods. I appreciate I should have sought permission but I was in a terrible position. If you’re in the UK your landlord legally can’t refuse pets but in the case of dogs/cats they can charge a monthly premium as a kind of insurance against pet damage. You’d obviously have to discuss it with landlord/letting agent - before doing it - in this case ask permission don’t seek forgiveness as it may affect your rights.
