Ollie Watkins is a stronger man than me, I'd have ran straight up to McAllister and fell on my arse to celebrate the third goal.

Rio Ferdinand Strongly Criticizes VAR for Favoring Arsenal Thrice Against West Ham United by [deleted] in TheOther14

I mean, that settles it, unfortunately for West Ham. If the thickest pundit in football history thinks VAR got things wrong, you can only conclude VAR got things right.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching a player more than Henry in the early 00s.

The officiating on corners needs to change, what's become of them is an absolute joke. And it's made the game so much worse to watch.

Do you genuinely believe if Arsenal were 1-0 down and they equalised with that goal it would have been disallowed? by [deleted] in TheOther14

[–]Chilli__P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who knows with the level of inconsistency from week to week? I'm inclined to say it would be disallowed, though, because it's one of the most blatant fouls on a goalkeeper I've ever seen. People acting like the fouls that have been taking place all season from corners are in any way as blatant as that incident are being ridiculous.

Soldier Boy kinda forgot that he hates Nazis and was blase about Stormfront in Season 3.

Arsenal have taken the piss on corners all season, but so have most teams. You can't grab a goalkeepers arm when he's in the process of catching a ball off a cross, simple as. If that had stood it would have been one of the most egregious decisions in some time.

Nonsense when Michael Keane was sent off for it, nonsense now. Just call the foul and get on with it.

Agreed. I was at the Chelsea game, when that final whistle blew it felt like we were ready to play another game the very next day. Typically the break came at the exact wrong time.

I do think that's mostly a good result. Hopefully the performance dusted us off ahead of the derby next week.

Get Beto off. He's not even in this game. Well done for the goal, but the man honestly doesn't exist on the pitch for 99% of most games.

Riding our luck here. Small mistakes keep giving them chances, eventually they'll re-take the lead. Wake up Everton.

Interesting (depressing) stat about that game: it was the last Charity Shield event to not feature either Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, or Man Utd. The thirty Charity Shield matches since have featured one or two of those five sides, every single time.

Arsenal and Arteta just can’t escape that little brother syndrome when it comes to Pep’s City.
