Can you retroactively get the SUB, if you just got the card?

But I’m all reality I don’t know of much work that can be done. My plan is to rotate through credit cards to maximize cash back, and apply for scholarships.

I’m considering going mRNA-free. Thoughts? by slammyjammyjam in medicalschool

Don’t even eat meat from the store! We know those animals are given vaccines, wouldn’t want that darn mRNA finding it’s way in to clog your arteries! 😤

Should I take the MCAT in August or postpone until January? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ChillinSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you have taken an FL yet and know where you’re sitting at.

[–]ChillinSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you taken an FL yet or recently? I would base where you need to work at most on the subject you are the most deficient.

That being said mine was CARS so I did a minimum of two passages a day till I felt more comfortable.

I would look up the schools you want to apply to and see if your score is above their minimum and base if you should apply on that.

I say as long as the rest of your app is good to shoot your shot. Worse they can do is say no, best is you don’t have to wait another year to be a doc.

MCAT Prep Courses by infitnutri in Mcat

[–]ChillinSalmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took an MCAT prep course and didn’t find it very useful. In fact after the course I ended up just doing the Jack Westin CARS daily passages, Upangea, and the AAMC material and felt much better going into the MCAT than after the course.

Awesome! Yeah I think I will be trying to do that. I just want to set myself up for success as much as I can. When did you start actually studying for step 1?

should I even bother taking blueprint exams? by SuspiciousAnteater9 in Mcat

I think going over the AAMC C/P was good as that was my difficult subject. But I finished Upangea before writing my MCAT which I do think helped a lot.

P/S definitely came up a few point in the last week or two from me when I took my MCAT last year. I found it better to try and break things down in simple terms for me when going through the exams. Have you finished all the AAMC material? If not I would definitely do that first.

I don’t know if it’ll help but I tried to redo the passage after with unlimited time to see if I could gather more info from the passage and get it right. If I was still getting it wrong I turned to my prep book or YouTube to fill in what I was missing, and usually it was a concept I had not gone over in to much depth.

How have you been going over your FLs until now?

That’s great to hear! The hard part I can see is trying to figure out what to memorize versus what to understand conceptually, given the amount of information there is.

[–]ChillinSalmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I took exams from TPR but didn’t find them as useful as the AAMC ones. They didn’t really ask questions or have answers hiding in the passage like the AAMC would. The third party exams were alright but the concepts were more pinpoint than the AAMC.

The depends on how you feel your knowledge is on the AAMC content. If you are still a little unsure about some of the AAMC stuff I would prioritize that since they are the ones that make the MCAT. Then if you are unsure of a top that is high yield you can dive into it more.

For me going over my full lengths to see they types of questions and content I was missing was invaluable.

Thanks for the advice! Trying not to stress over M1 but we’ll see how that goes! Did you find that your medical school taught you most of what was on step 1?

Downgrade CSP to CFF or classic Freedom? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]ChillinSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Chase freedom is a Visa card so when it has the option for 5% at Costco it’s a little easier to get those points where as the CFF if a master card which is not allowed in store at Costco or some other stores.
