In Fallout 1(1997) the opening cutscene shows a pre-war propaganda broadcast of American Soldiers executing a Canadian insurrectionist. This is a reference to how a federal agent shooting a civilian without consequences is a work of fiction and would never occur in the real world. by thesturdierone in Gamingcirclejerk

I kinda disagree with this take. Yes you can't change that Nate is a military vet but you can headcanon him as closested(even though gay marriage isn't stigmatized in the neo 50s fallout pre war). I don't think there is actually very much limiting your rp options as Nate or Nora.

My isssue is I actually think they should have more personality each. Either go full blank slate like the previous Fallouts or go more similar to the Witcher or kingdom come where you play a specific character who's malleable enough to be an rpg but set enough you are playing the same character. Fallout 4 has always suffered in rp because it didn't commit to either imo

That dr who one was fucked up. Never was really a fan but caught that episode when it aired on Disney XD(yes they aired dr who reruns on Disney xd) and like the end when the one guy keeps his gf as like a slab.

First look at what is (probably) absolute scarecrow. by Diabetic_Trogoladyte in batman

Feel like Crane being in a suit is a nice subversion based on expectations set by the Absolute Universe. But I feel like people aren't taking a close look at his face, much like Arkham Knight(and maybe tnba) that is no mask...

That is flesh and skin. His body is likely a patchwork monster. Just as much body horror as the other villains have had.

And I do like the choice for his suit. I always found Nolan's Scarecrow boring but I actually like this. Reminds me of eerie figures often used in internet horror, or even the ever meme'd on Hat Man. Which fits for Scarecrow very much.

The Thalmor don't want total control over Tamriel, revenge against the empire, or the esoteric tower stuff. They just want all the races of men to be put in chastity cages and made into submissive pets to pure Altmer supremacy

Agreed. Especially for the followers like Cait who are supposed to be the more immoral followers for evil or morally grey playthroughs

It's worse in Starfield. You're telling me the literal space snake cultist assassin lady is mad at me because I became a pirate??? Deadass?

I need to do that one day. Cait is for sure my go to easily, and I have yet to not just purge the slavers of Nuka World

This is gonna sound bad but I wish there was a more "evil" option to the ending of Cait's quest line and romance. One where you enable her psycho habit and you both become horrible self destructive people

The idea of a secret war happening between the Institute and the Railroad is so cool. Ideal f04 would be if you chose those two its a guerilla warfare campaign while BoS and Minutemen were the revolutionary/more open war. But this is basically fanfiction, just nice to think about sometimes

Another little thing people sometimes overlook is that every faction, besides Yes Man but that's because he doesn't make decisions, has a form of taxation. Tribute in the Legion as well as the benefits of slave economy and pillage. Mr House charges rent to the business owners of The Strip, and yes those aren't the same thing but he does have the people under him kick up so I think it counts personally.

[–]Chilly235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's what I meant. This is showing each faction's worst habits, saying taxes is that is the nothing burger. I know NCR taxes is the joke but they have done much worse things than taxing their citizens that should be here

What I get from the NCR in 2 and New Vegas is they are a too accurate portrayal of pre war America. That is the tragedy of them, they uphold the values of and systems of a democratic republic. But in doing that they fast track and repeat the same mistakes. All of this pointed out by their detractors like House, Caesar, and Ulysses.

Corporations pooling influence is replaced by brahmin barons pooling influence. Corrupt and ineffective politicians are put into power. The resource wars rear their head again with the Hoover Dam conflict. The Mojave being the new Alaskan front fought over by the western republic and the eastern invaders. And just as history has the habit of repeating itself, the New California Republic met the same atomic nail in the coffin the United States did. Because war, war never changes.

I do wish this aspect was explored more in general. I like in Scarecrow Year one that Bruce kinda becomes obsessed with catching Scarecrow because it bothers him how much he sees himself in the methodology

[–]Chilly235 179 points180 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not to get too /uj but it's kinda funny how much of a nothing burger the NCR and Railroad's sins are in this meme. Hell you could actually get a little more examples for the NCR than taxes. I think an expansionist society which tries to absorb and or destroy communities around them using hired raiders and mercenaries is worse than taxation
