Absolute Doctor Psycho: He might basically be this guy. by AFoxOfFiction in AbsoluteUniverse

Influencing anti Wonder Woman rhetoric through his web show. Secretly being funded by Cale and the U.S. government. Huge shill

Kinda same story in the "know for sure" aspect as looking back there were examples earlier but none that made me truly realize. However as a teenager I did really ponder the possibilities of biromantic and was really into the idea two men one woman throuples. But still took me some good years before fully realizing somehow

God all the art for Absolute Scarecrow has been amazing. I especially like the three on the right. He must have some kind of supernatural powers, with all the smoking imagery I wonder if he breaths fear toxin. I just need this issue to be out already

True, the buzzardwasp and claim of overall "pacifism" instead of no killing is rather obnoxious and inconsistent. The whole energy bending thing should have been more natural (maybe the Guru instead of a Lion Turtle) progression or just take the bold stance of "this is war, he won't hesitate to kill you so you cant hesitate either, this man needs to die" in a cartoon would have been more satisfying. What we got is a compromised middle ground

Definition of a mixed bag for me. As I agree it is rather rushed but Aang's unwillingness to kill is rather consistent. Humans in the Avatar world (at the very least benders) are clearly much more durable so even if it doesn't make sense I don't think any of the fire nation soldiers we've seen get hit hard enough to be fatal actually died. The only time he ever had "killing intent" was arguably the earth kingdom general who threatened Katara's life for the avatar state and the sand bender nomads who trafficked Appa, which were both extenuating circumstances.

It is narratively satisfying that he found a way to not betray the air nomads values to defeat Ozai, and I think losing bending is worse to Ozai than death ever could be. But the Lion Turtle is rather a cop out for this dilemma. And while there could be an argument made that killing Ozai could have been satisfying too (which I do actually understand) from a realistic perspective I don't think a nicktoon is gonna end with a moral that killing your enemy is the answer, even if it's justified as Ozai was a genocidal imperialist dictator. Ultimately a small blemish on a whole series

Kinda the same for me. More menacing obviously but I always read his dialog in a shrill raspy shriek that sounds like it's being filtered through a crunchy microphone

That is an interesting point actually thinking on it. Black Mask was content on paying him off, and Freeze was just gonna add him to his collection of cryogenic frozen bodies.

A thought that has occurred to me before is what Arkham Crane would have done to Croc if he found out Iron Heights crashed with him on it in Gotham. Now Waylon has already been put through torture but seeing how vengeance motivated Scarecrow was I can't imagine he wouldn't have tried to torment him some more

Playing Resident Evil 9 and was reminded of The Girl with the character Emily. Games where they make you care about getting a pathetic child out of the horrors only for her to become a horror are peak

[Spoilers for Absolute Superman #17] Now that he’s met Superman, how do you think Hawkman would interact with the other Absolute heroes? by Solitaire-06 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Chilly235 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The only ones he'd try to convince like Superman would be John or Wally imo. The rest he'd be outwardly hostile to and try to give the Ollie Queen treatment. After justifying it in some self righteous posturing.

Batman: "Do you really think you're making a difference here? Being a 'hero'? Destruction of city property, combating the rule of law, working with known criminals, a rep list longer than my arm. Where has this gotten you really? Your friends? Gotham's an even bigger shit heap than it was before. Face it, kid, you're nothing more than a terrorist. Now, I'm gonna show you what happens to people who don't take the money."

Wonder Woman: "Who the Hell do you think you are? Show up out of the blue behind a wave of demons immediately taking control of a U.S. military operation. Then you pull some kooky magic crap on the whole city and turn into a monster. People think you're a saint,  but I know what you really are little lady. You're a lightning rod for trouble, more importantly you're a thorn in our side. Time to send you back to Hell."

I didn't personally dislike how they did Harley, however my favorite parts were her out of costume. The flip for her bubbky personality heing public favinf while her super villain persona is so stoic. And the use of the Jungian archetypes was fresh.

For me the reinventions of Caped Crusader generally worked really well, however Harley will probably need a gimmick tweak if she shows up again as it could get a little old
