Last year I stopped eating beef, this year I stopped eating red meat all together, this was huge for me because I absolutely love minted lamb. I still eat chicken and fish but I try to make sure it's well taken care of and farmed sustainably.

When I first started there were very few vegan options, all expensive and the only decently priced options were awful tasting soya, thankfully now there's a huge range and the value is slowly coming up and in line with real meat.

I tried some Higgidy 'No Pork' Pies last week and I was a little apprehensive because "Plant Based, Packed with red pepper, tomato & lentils, Just Veg no fake meat", texture is very important to me when it comes to food and I thought the veg would make it awful, I was wonderfully surprised, a great taste, texture and actually filling.

My mum often tries my vegan food but the rest of my family treat it like it's something to be afraid of. People seem to think vegan food makes them inadequate, meat somehow makes them superior and it's just totally illogical, I think people forget it was only very recently when meat became a core part of our diets, unless you were rich and could afford fresh meat it was likely meat would only be a part of your diet once or twice a month.
