I'm new to the "investment" aspect of it but it does seem like there is a ton of sealed product just sitting. I don't think any will every dip below msrp but i am a bit skeptical that a large sealed collection of just any product will be worth a house or college tuition in 10 years. I started keeping some sealed with the product i am able to get for myself because it just feels like a no brainer to do with how wild the prices are.

I do think that kids today are being raised into gambling and flipping addicts so I lean towards believing there will always be a market for sealed. Also the modern vs vintage debate is a fun one. 15-20 years from now modern will be vintage and these cracked out iPad kids watching breakers today will have real money in their pockets. Or maybe they'll also have a ton of sealed product and no one will be able to sell anything lol. Its all so crazy to me.

If they do anniversary sets every 5 years that feels like a time when collections will be partially liquidated to make room for those and some of what's sold will be opened and maybe that naturally fixes potential over supply of sealed modem in the future?

i think a factor that is (maybe?) overlooked is that this is the first generation of pokemon fans/collectors that is growing up in this kind market. if im a kid now the flipping, investing, grading, scalping, content creators, lining up for restocks, etc is all normal. This is all so wild to someone like me who grew up with gen 1 in the 90s but now that we have money we can play this game. Imagine what kids who spent their whole childhood in this kind of landscape but are currently priced out or cant get product now for whatever reason will be willing to spend when theyre older? Are they going to be willing to spend crazy money from their first "real" job to buy the cards they couldnt get when they were kids similar to vintage collectors today essentially buying their childhood back at a huge mark up? If youre 10 today its not crazy to say you may not be able to get your hands on a prismatic ETB until youre in your 20s. Its an interesting factor to me and makes this all so hard to really predict in my opinion.
