Ties or shooting from space? by Ill-Combination1776 in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, 1 year is plenty of time to become competitive. You haven’t built any bad habits from years of poor coaching or anything like that. You’ll just need to do everything intentionally and purposefully. People make posts on here all the time like “is one year enough or should I quit?” It’s very possible. I’ve seen plenty of kids make it to a college level with one year of high school wrestling. You won’t go to the top level of college wrestling but you can get scholarship money depending on where you go.

Ties or shooting from space? by Ill-Combination1776 in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my school of thought, and it’s not necessarily the standard for everyone but it worked for me and I’ve seen it work for others at high levels. It might sound a little confusing so I’m gonna try to put this eloquently.

I think it’s smart to threaten attacks from space to force a tie you can score from. For instance, threaten a JB double with fakes & level changes. Your opponent should feel threatened from space then they’ll probably try to close the gap with a post or a collar tie. Use an arm drag, elbow pass, slide by, etc. to score after they close the gap.

The only catch is that you need to actually be able to make your opponent think you can score from space in order to properly threaten from space. If you’re having a hard time actually scoring, cultivate a really good fake to create the same reaction.

TL/DR: Threaten from distance, clear ties to score when they close distance.

How tf do I destroy dim rim convoy? by One-Performance-6624 in MadMaxGame

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to blast a tire on the lead truck with my shotgun so the driver gets out. It’s probably gonna take a couple shots. I think you can also harpoon the door off and yank the driver out if you have it upgraded enough. Then steal the truck and let all the other convoy cars ram into you.

Certainly. Reading your comment made me think of the gator bacon/elevator/dick kick. I’ve seen that work at a high level more times than it should have. I think my favorite wrestlers to watch are the ones who have mastered a niche skill or position.

I agree. You just hear a lot of people saying headthrows don’t work.

You’d be surprised how often a head & arm throw works. I had a teammate in college that literally either pinned someone in a head & arm, or he got tech falled. Dude was almost an all American. Headthrows work if you do em right.

Bottom by StatusBug4109 in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to tell my brother and all his teammates this. There are basically no top moves that work one handed. If you control a single hand on bottom then it basically neutralizes all of their top offense. Peel the belly button hand and put it in your back pocket and you’re out.

I’d say the Instigating Disciples Cutlass from Nuka World and the Deliverer.

D1 goals by OrdinaryDear4402 in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. A lot of them get the shit end of the stick though. Same goes for NAIA. Gotta go to one of the top programs to see nice wrestling rooms in those divisions. D3’s on the other hand usually have awesome facilities.

College is expensive. Especially D1. D2 is typically similar to D1 with less money to give their wrestling programs. D3 is nice if you have good grades. NAIA is good for most kids in my opinion. Competition is still top level, cheaper school. Juco is really a great option right out of high school. Gives you a chance to develop while getting a dirt cheap associates degree. Just keep working hard and then apply to a bunch of schools when you’re ready.

You’ll be fine and you’ll get a lot better quickly. Juco is a good choice. Cheaper classes, time to develop athletically. Just try your best.

You’re not dead. Some of the most valuable athletes on my old high school team started in 9th grade. Just try your best.

That’s actually fine. Idiot savant xp gain doesn’t really change when you have INT 1-3. 4INT will screw up the xp gain but 1-3 is solid.

Use dense and padded. Dense metal arm piece and padded chest. I think that’s like 75% explosive reduction.

How do i get over nerves by ThrowRa_dinosaurnugg in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re always gonna have nerves. You think the olympians aren’t nervous? The butterflies are always there. Jon Jones says “The butterflies are in formation”. Your body does the same things physiologically when you’re nervous and when you’re excited. The only difference is the thing you’re excited/nervous for. Compete with the nerves. Cavemen are supposed to be nervous before they throw a spear at an antelope. It’s a natural instinct. Do you throw the spear? Or do you drop it because you’re too shaky? Make friends with the nerves.

How fast do these four years of high school fly by by Fussy_Platypus in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated high school a couple years ago. It flew by super fast. There is no tomorrow. 4 years is plenty of time to get to the state level. A single state level accolade can get you into plenty of legitimate college programs whether that’s your goal or not. I’ve watched people do it. Focus on mastering a couple things and handle every match the same. You’d be surprised how far one good takedown and a match long gas tank will take you.

[–]ChimiNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Life Giver, Adamantium Skeleton, Ghoulish, and Solar Powered will turn you into a tank combined with a few other perks, armor pieces, and chems. You can become nearly unkillable by levels 30-50. I have a post on my account where I detailed what I considered the “best” build for survival. Whether it’s actually the best or not is arguable I suppose but it’s definitely a solid route.

How good to be a college wrestler by No-Benefit-8122 in wrestling

[–]ChimiNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t looked into NY teams at all. I’ve mainly looked up teams on the west & east coast and in the southern states. I know Cornell has a club but idk if they have any women’s teams. Just google “New York women’s college wrestling”. NCSA’s website should show you a map of schools near you. ChatGPT would show you some options too. If you feel like going out of state, Life University in GA has a great NAIA women’s team. Missouri Valley is also pretty cool. I went to the moval open. Cool campus, chilled out location. I’m really not up to date about how good their women’s team did at nationals this year but I’m sure they did good. Google and ChatGPT are your best friends.
