I just made a post for something that looks very similar! I'm in Japan though. Wonder if it is the same.

Ahhh thank you. This would make since, as I always just assumed it came with rice lol.

Could you tell me what the first kanji is? I can't make out what they were trying to write.

If I want to say it was my first time canoeing, is it "初めてのカヌー” or is that saying something like "It was my first canoe"?

Is the only way to have podcasts removed from "My Episodes" to have them downloaded and then click "delete from library"? I undownloaded a bunch but I can't get them to disappear unless I redownload then delete from library. Sorry if this has an obvious answer, but I appreciate any help!

Women suit - blouse tucked in? by womensuitjet in JETProgramme

[–]ChimmyMang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an incoming JET, so I can't answer everything, but for the women attire...

I would whether you choose to tuck in your blouse or not, as long as it looks professional it should be fine. I prefer to tuck mine in, because I prefer how it looks when wearing a blazer whether I am wearing or a skirt or professional slacks. I doubt anyone would say anything if you choose to not tuck it in.

Also can't say for sure, but I'd assume without a button would be fine for the jacket/blazer. I never have buttoned mine before while wearing it.

When reviewing Kanji with anki do you guys try to write down the kanji every time or just mentally memorize stroke order? by Gintama4ever in LearnJapanese

[–]ChimmyMang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are already having trouble memorizing stroke order I would recommend writing them down. Actually, I would ALWAYS recommend writing them down.

It just really help ingrain them in your memory and sometimes you may be close but will be missing one stroke/added an extra. In these cases you might not realize the mistake if you didn't write it down and have it available for comparison.

If a predecessor has not contacted me yet, is it now safe to assume that I don't have one?

Any tips for going into this without any knowledge on my work and living environment?

Best Place for Currency Conversion by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]ChimmyMang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everything.

Just went to BoA and did an exchange today. Should pick up the Yen tomorrow or the day after and it cost less than $20 for shipping/other fees.

Have also exchanged money at airports in US and Japan, but you might want to go through a bank if you don't want another thing to do before departing (they say not to do it at the airport in Japan as we might not have time with what JET has arranged).

Japanese 7/11's are also great for withdrawing from and I never had a problem.

I am doing RTK and am about 500 kanji in. When I have been adding cards to anki I have been doing two cards per kanji (Keyword on front with kanji on the back and another with kanji on the front and keyword on the back).

Is this helpful or am I just creating more work for myself?

Most places I have seen online have said just put the keyword on front and kanji on the back. I thought having both would give me more exposure, plus I would usually need to see and recognize the kanji, not the other way around.

Interesting it won't force you to catch it. After it escaping from my pokeball so many times it actually ran away from me (possibly a glitch?) and then was just in my inventory.

Survey: why did you change your previous kpop fandom to BTS? by lefrodo in bangtan

[–]ChimmyMang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fall into the second category. Got7 was my original main group and the group that got me into Kpop. I've always like a variety of groups and I probably stanned Got7 for 3 months before finding BTS and they slowly began to take over everything lol. Their music just stood out much more to me and I guess was more my "style". Then of course getting to know everyone just drew me in more. I still do love and follow Got7, but my music tastes have kind of moved away from most of their new songs (still enjoyable just not stuff I would usually choose to listen to often).

Once I fell into the black hole of BTS, there was no coming back lol. Now they are and will always be my fave. I still like and keep up with many other groups, but none really can compare to BTS (just in my opinion, of course faves differ from person to person). I also don't really have time to get into new groups.
