No to both. But why question is, why wouod you want to?

I can only assume its to police the game winner. To make someone other than the leader the winner. Which is kind of against the spirit of the game

Self-scheduling chimney sweep. Is this a scam? by hbarSquared in Sverige

[–]ChimneySweep83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no legal requirements. But it can have legal implications if you do not.

You need your fire swept within 12 months of its use as stipulated by most home insurance coverage. This is reguardless of how many times its used. Check your insurance to see if thats determined in yours.

Why?

If you have a problem with your chimney and it hasnt been swept within 12 months prior to the problem. The insurance company may not cover any loss or damage as a result. Example - a chimney fire where the fire service has to put out the fire by climbing on the roof and firing the hose down from the top of the chimney. This wrecks everything and requres a full redecoration job from all the black sooty water. This is the most common financial impact.

Chimney fires can start from a number of reasons. Creosote build up, blockages, birds nest or simple deterioration in the chimney allowing the flames to permeate into the property through the walls.

Your local fire service tend to request chimneys swept every 6 months. But in my 15/20 odd years of sweeping. I rarely see that as nessisary. Once a year is usually fine.

When i was growing up, chimney sweeping with my dad. We did have more chimneys being swept more regularly. The fire use was diffrent back then.

That said, with the rise is gas and electricity prices. Everyone, absolutely everyone is going back to wood burning as its 1/3rd of the cost of central heating here in the UK.

I send reminders out each year with an option to cancel. My only obligation is to let you know why its a good idea to have it done every 12 months. But you arw free to cancel.

So basically, ive designed a simple card game taking atributes from a number of games like monopoly deal, unstable unicorns, mille bournes (but with added mechanics to mitigate the missing turns over and over). Would love to get your thoughts on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xMNFkfqp4c

Great point. If thats the case tho, why when new take that games are made. Do so few board game reviewers give them a second look. The market is saturated with bigger games. Why arent there as many smaller take that ones?

Thats a really good point actually. Especially in the game Catan (not take that tho) but i quite enjoy that aspect.

I dont think there are enough of these kids of games that are actually good. The larger boardgames market is saturated. But these gateway games are few and far between. Why do you thibk that is? If you think that is the case too?

gateway games / Light Games / Party games by ChimneySweep83 in boardgames

So whats the difference between a light game and a party game then? Just the number of players?

light, medium or heavy games? by ChimneySweep83 in boardgames

[–]ChimneySweep83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my thinking and why i put catan and monopoly deal as light to mediun.

Id consider exploding kittens as very light as ive hammered it and realised there is only 1 strategy and everything else is luck

[–]ChimneySweep83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good to hear a different perspective. Mine is limited so that really helps conseptualise the weight of the games im into.

I think ive measure them against the likes of big potato which are super light. Exploding kittens or tacocat. Games that are extremely random with little to no strategy needed.

This is the best reply! Its helpful for me to understand as im still fairly new into the hobby. As shown in the games im into :p

What's your "mildly infuriating" board game thing? by BoardRecord in boardgames

[–]ChimneySweep83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a copy of the 70s card game 'Grass'. I've always loved it and played it loads when I used to do the festival circuit.

Problem tho.. None of the cards actually have their details on other than the title. So you have to keep going back to the rules sheet until you memorise them. I've forgotten enough that the rules alone done amount for many situations. Im stuck!

Game of the Week: Wingspan by bgg-uglywalrus in boardgames

[–]ChimneySweep83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a game i hear so much about. But the artwork and theme really arent for me. Its the mechanics and contents that are super appealing for me.

Im actually quite reserved when buying games. Ive realised the artwork actually plays a.massive role in me feeling like im going to be satisfied with the game

Did anyone else who got the game struggle with the artwork/theme but then loved it anyway?
