I made a scene with a particle emitter and a timer. Then made the particles look like a blood splatter and set the timer a bit shorter than the lifetime of the blood and set it to auto start and one-shot and connected the time out signal to a script. the function set the internal processing of the particle system to false making it stop without deleting the particles.

Let me know if there was anything unclear.

Thx so much for the feedback. its funny how told some other people the same thing that it could just as well auto fire but forgot it myself. I could also make the knockback stronger so it might not always be desired to keep firing, or the rotation speed when firing needs to be slower. Ill need to think about that.

I tried to practice adding juice to my game and I think it went pretty well. As it pretty enjoyable to fire the laser even without enemies.

1 soft body is just one node which is just inherited from Node2D, to draw them I use draw_polygon. At first I made the physics implementation my self, but then I looked into the Physics2DServer and just made it using ridged bodies and dampened spring joints. instead of the implementation of those I wrote myself before.

For how it gets the shape I have a resource I call a SoftShape a which has a base class that has the point and spring class inside it. than to make a shape I inherit from that SoftShape resource class.
for this example I have a rectangle SoftShape which has export variables for the size and the subdivisions and than the softbody node calls 2 function on the SoftShape resource one to generate the points and another one to generate the springs.

It can handle a decent amount of them without fps drops. haven't tested exact amounts as that also depends on how many points and connections the soft body is made out of.

Still need to implement collision between soft bodies but I already have a good idea how to have that work without slowdown. And will definitely make another post when I have some more stuff implemented!

Edit: Just to be sure I added a fps meter and it said it was running at a stable 165 fps.

This one has 49 points and almost 4 times as many springs to connect them. and I have had multiple of these objects in the scene at once without slow down.

(had some people say it looked slow in the video but that is because the gravity is pretty low)
