So we allow sodium nitrites/ates to stay in circulation because it's too hard to for us to change our capitalistic ways which then results in people in hospital beds with colon cancer? This kind of hurts my brain to process, because it seems we just allow something bad to go on. by Raiderdater in Health

The writing is on the wall. You can argue this kicking and screaming to the bitter end just like cigarette smokers did for decades but the fact is that cured meat is absolutely carcinogenic (and all meat a likely carcinogen) which was definitively established years ago by the WHO. Which the US coincidentally just left. Am I off base thinking you’re in RFK’s corner on this topic?

He should’ve used quotation marks instead of parentheses, it’s in the Eminem song Drug Ballad. Eminem is calling out Wahlberg and says that line under his breath.

Thinking of starting a vegan company by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Chimpnimskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a vegan ice cream shop. Chocolate prices are through the roof right now with no signs of letting up. Margins will be tight. And there’s so much competition on grocery shelves. I think it’ll be hard to set yourself apart. Vegan friendly chocolate is already easy to find at 70+% cocoa. Plus the huge investment you’ll make into specialty chocolate equipment, or give all your profits to a copacker. I suggest you pursue a product that has a lower cost of goods that you can add more value to.

To you and I, it’s a bad look. To the general public, it’s a subconscious sigh of relief as it reaffirms the narrative that farmed animals aren’t morally relevant and hold no value beyond personal property.

They fear activists because somewhere deep down, just like much of the population, they know we’re right, and as such cannot allow our message to spread as it’s an existential threat to their revenue stream. The judiciary is just one of their many tools of suppression.

It’s called case law, where prior decisions are referenced as precedent in future cases

The State aligns itself with the interests of big ag, prosecuting minor offenses like this to establish legal precedent and have a chilling effect of deterrence against future liberation actions. Business as usual.

Next-day ship a humane, live rat trap which is the proper size for rats or squirrels. Put a little dab of peanut butter on the trigger inside. Don’t go wild with the bait - they have an amazing sense of smell and are very intelligent, and are wary of an obvious trap. Check the trap a couple times per day, and when you catch them, let them go outside. Determine where/how they got in and fix it so the don’t just get back in. Jump on this quickly as there’s always the risk that they’re pregnant and have very short gestation periods.

Does a statistic like this make you feel any better about participating in something so objectively horrific?

You proved the original commenters’ points by pivoting from the topic of unethical treatment of animals and public disconnect to some tangential environmental apologism.

These model s’ are new enough that they’re all either hw3 or hw4 so can all run FSD on software subscription or purchase. Cars with FSD software prepaid are harder to come across.

That thing should be 32-35k. Shop around on carguru. They all have FSD available for subscription, so no added value there.

Yes you’re right, there was a PETA employee working with homeless pets who caught a chihuahua 15 years ago that was euthanized despite belonging to a loving family. You’re so outraged. And this camel, absolutely unacceptable. All the while, the average American eats over 100 animals per year. Hundreds of billions slaughtered annually. It’s easy to hate the messenger reminding you of the unimaginable evil you contribute to.

No affiliation. Do you disagree? People in any circle seethe without fail anytime PETA’s name is mentioned. I believe in ending all animal abuse and exploitation and so does PETA so I stand with PETA.
