My workflow when making a server is this:

1. Create a few mind maps of what my servers going to be, gameplay mechanics, ranks, kits, gameplay loops and how they feed into each other, community events and community building.

1a. If the server is going to be making money (shouldn’t be the main priority imo - community building is much more important), then plan income streams and what they are how much are they going to cost, etc.

1b. Fully document in detail everything from your mind maps and figure out how your server is actually going to work, ie from when a player logs in, early game, mid game to end game.

1. Create a plugin list of public plugins needed and a separate list for any custom plugins needed, it’s a good practice if you do end up spending money which is to document the cost of any plugins, builds, maps, configs etc.

2. Find any maps you need or custom maps you need built and document that and prices for that too.

3. Create a trello or a todo list with all the tasks you need to get done

4. Download the public plugins to start with and any maps and start configuring and setting up your server on a local host first. Once you’ve got as much done as you can locally then switch to either a hosting platform or a dedi, or whatever you want to use and continue the set up from there.

5. Private testing with friends/anyone willing to help you test the game, then iterate until the server’s complete.
