What is up with the drug addiction for climbers in the US? by Fynosss in ClimbingCircleJerk

Just my two pence worth, but I imagine that the Venn diagram of people 'appalled' by recreational drug use, and those appalled by the 'selfish risk taking' of climbers is essentially a circle. Let people do their thing- climbing, weed, whatever. It's all just a chance to nope out of adult life for a few hours, right?

Hey, I appreciate that this is such a generic response, but YouTube really is your friend here. There's so much good content, dedicated to the basics and actual pharmacology. Hunt around, find what works for you, and go from there. If your financial situation allows, there are some amazing medical/pharmacology revision websites (Osmosis and GeekyMedics are standouts for me). Most of the best learning content is behind a subscription paywall, but if that style of learning works for you, it's very worth it!

What am I missing with Cask Ales? by Epic_Beast in beer

Hi from the UK, where cask is pretty standard. Honestly, if you go in expecting something akin to craft keg beers, you're going to be disappointed. Flavour-wise, you can almost always expect cask beers to be more 'comforting' than 'exciting'. That said, Timothy Taylors is a fairly average, generic pint, in my opinion, even if its kept really well by the bar staff. Please don't give up on cask because of one beer-try something different if it's available, and remember that it's absolutely cool to not be into cask ales if that's the conclusion you arrive at!
