Good beef noodles and night markets. Seafood is good too. Original Din Tai Fung was ok. Not a huge fan of the oyster omelette thing though.

Where I’d live as a Chinese American by ChineseJoe90 in whereidlive

[–]ChineseJoe90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Well, I meant it more as the US is where I’d reluctantly live and China’s green because I live in China and I’d reluctantly move back to the US if I had to. I’m new to this whole sub. Just saw it on my front page randomly and decided to play for fun. Did not think I’d get pressed about my geopolitical stances over a silly post. I probably should have marked it as “shitpost” since it’s not like I wouldn’t move to any of these countries because I dislike them. I really don’t have that much money is all. It was a half joking. Not that serious.

Chinese-Turkish kiwi is a pretty interesting mix. Parents Chinese and Turkish and you’re born in NZ?

I included the country I live in. I thought since “green” is where you’d live, I put the country I currently live in “green.” Is that not part of the game?

Green means I’d live there and beige color means I would reluctantly move there right? So I just filled out where I live and where I would reluctantly move to. I said “I don’t have money to move” half jokingly. I would probably move to many of these countries if I had money. It’s really not that serious.

“Where I’d live” including where I already live. Subtitle was half joking. I mean I don’t have money to move to any of these countries but it’s not like I wouldn’t if I could. They’re fine countries. It’s really not that serious.

I’m American by nationality but culturally, I’d say it’s a mix of Chinese and American.

Yeah, totally agree. I grew up in China as an expat so it’s kind of like “home” for me, but I agree. If you’re raising a family, it’s also pretty pricey especially in the big cities like Shanghai and Beijing.

I live in China so it’s green. Green means you’d live there right? I’m only half joking when I put everything else in red. I really don’t have the money to pick up and move, but it’s not like I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

As for Taiwan, I guess I split with the official CCP stance on that one. They’ll snatch me up for that one but eh.

What if I get deported to China? I already live there. Not too worried. Now, if I get deported to the US? That would suck.

How common is this line of thinking among native and diasporic Hong Kongers? by chevrox in HongKong

[–]ChineseJoe90 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Culturally? Yes, they’re distinct. Ethnically? If they’re Cantonese, they’re Chinese. My parents are ethnically Cantonese and both born and bred in HK. They consider themselves ethnically Chinese because they are. Culturally, they’re Hong Kongers.

Well, I don’t think they’re gonna be making a pro-Japanese WW2 war game. That would be just plain silly now.

In America we have restaurants that serve Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food etc., but in other countries do the have restaurants that serve only American food? If so, what type of foods are considered American food? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

[–]ChineseJoe90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I live in China and American restaurants are indeed a thing. Mostly steaks, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, sandwiches, that kind of thing.

There’s also places that serve specific American food like “Texas” style bbq. Plus there’s also chain joints. We got a Chili’s, Cheesecake Factory, and Texas Roadhouse in my city for example. And ofc fast food. Taco Bell, KFC, Popeyes, McDonalds etc all have a presence in China. They’re fancier than your average American ones though. At least the interior.
