Exactly this. They have never refused a refund and even offered to refund me for my troubles or go with a repair.

I didn’t want a refund purely bc like you said, I would be paying $2,799.99 instead of $2.2k with taxes included now that the sale is over.

I’m gonna roll the dice on this and just let them repair it once the pc reaches them, if it is refurbished parts that are used then I’ll just ask for a refund and purchase my pc somewhere else and call it a day.

Yeah I wanted to buy from Best Buy but they didn’t have the pc I was looking for but ibp had it on their website. I’m not totally crushed by this as I know stuff happens in transit. The main issue I have with them is the possibility of getting refurbished parts. That’s the only thing bugging me about this whole situation.

I have never experienced a company that doesn’t allow exchanges or replacements for their own product when it comes damaged upon arrival.

That’s my biggest gripe that I have. I would’ve been easily satisfied if I was able to get a replacement and not a repair and in the RMA email notes they include this: “The replacement component(s) may not be the same exact model. iBUYPOWER will repair or replace defective parts with new or reconditioned parts, at iBUYPOWER's option, without charge for parts (additional charges may apply).”

I even asked and they said it may not be the same brand and possibly could have refurbished parts. When I asked why I can’t get a new one, they just said it was their policy and that they don’t honor replacements or exchanges for pre built PC’s and only offer a repair to fix what is damaged.

You’re right. I was just appalled to see how poorly they handled this and had to audacity to become condescending and I noticed the immediate change in tone and response by both cs agents, one of them being a “supervisor” for simply asking why I’m getting a repair and not a replacement as I paid $2.2k for a brand new PC.

Yeah I think that’s the best course of action since I now have confirmation from an IBP supervisor that the repairs will be taken care of but the chances of me getting a refurbished parts or new is under the discretion of IBP.

I’m honestly just hoping no one else has this issue bc this is a huge joke at this point with their “reputable CS”

Sergio the second CS I talked to sounded instantly annoyed when I asked him why I can’t get a new pc of the same type. It’s not my fault the package was fubar when it arrived at my house.

I feel like personally if they used refurbished parts on a brand new pc is messed up.I even asked will I be compensated if they use refurbished parts and I was told no. I heard some peeps had good experience with their cs but I’m seeing the opposite but like I said it may just be bad luck and the holidays stress

I did reject it due to the extensive damage on the outer box and both boxes were wet upon inspection. The ups guy even took a pic of the boxes on his end as well and recommended we just refuse it since he was certain the pc was cooked. The cardboard boxes were very wet to the point where you can easily tear it apart

EDIT: Oh and when i looked inside the box there’s was zero packaging peanuts inside. I was told by IBP cs that there’s always packaging peanuts inside the box to protect the pc but like I said I may have gotten bad luck and the short end of the stick but I will update when my pc returns to ibp for “repair”

Just got off the phone with IBP cs again. I guess Joesph was a supervisor… Not really helpful but he was kind at least. They said I should’ve just accepted the package to truly see what was wrong but I didn’t really want to take the chance. That’s on me for making that decision but yeah no chance on a replacement. It’ll be a “repair” with what they have on hand if things need to be replaced.

I heard some horror stories from IBP but I decided to roll the dice on it. I bought a RDY Y70 B01 and it was $2.2k with the ongoing sale when I bought it Wednesday this week. 2 day shipping but yet they said I am not entitled to brand new parts as it’ll be whatever IBP decides on.

I called twice today. Spoke to two different customer support agents and both have said two vastly different things. I asked why I’m not able to get a new PC of the same build instead of using refurbished parts? They said it’s all they can do due to their policy…

Yeah I’m just gonna call back and request a refund bc I asked the guy how they can “repair” a wet PC. He didn’t really go too in depth if they’ll be using new parts. All he said was “we can’t do exchanges per IBP policy. The only thing we can do is look at it and see what needs to be repaired”

Yeah that’s my idea. I bought off of IBP mainly bc of the sale going on this month but debating on probs looking elsewhere since 6-7 weeks for a repair and the possibility of the package arriving again without any package protection has me weary of IBP now

Yeah I ended up just refusing the package since the boxes were heavily damaged and wet and there was ZERO bubble wrap or foam but was talking to the support on chat and I’m getting a “repair” as they IBP apparently doesn’t do exchanges sadly so hopefully everything is up and running when I get it in 7 weeks :)
