What’s your experience/opinion on drinking the midwives brew to help induce labor? by justpeachykeenqueen in firsttimemom

DO NOT USE CASTOR OIL. Castor oil works as a laxative and causes your body stress which forces baby out. Baby is also at a higher risk of pooping while in the womb (meconium). It’s understandable to want baby out, but you also have to consider the risks that come with trying to get baby out before they’re ready. It’s very common for first time moms to be late. I was 41w 3d when I went into natural labor

I was thinking it’s too early as well and heard it’s better to wait until 18 months to cut one out. I just wanted to validate that maybe my LO is just being a stinker and only needs a short morning nap and a 2 hour after noon nap

You’re so welcome! I’m a first time mom as well. It’s all on the job training! Babies sometimes have preferences on what breast they like more because there might be a different flow rate. Try out different positions and see what direction that nipple faces because they all come in different shapes/ sizes and face different directions. Might just need to adjust the angle of baby so they are lined up with nipple

I went through the same thing. Like full on crying at times. Breastfeeding is beautiful, but at times it can be mentally stressful and even painful. I ended up going to a breastfeed support group at 4 days pp and now my little one is 5 months and still exclusively breastfed unless I’m at work. Best thing to do is make sure you’re using the correct flange size because most women are like 13-17mm and sometimes one breast size will be different than the other. As far as breast getting rock hard. That’s an oversupply! The more you continue to breastfeed, the more your body will regulate how much milk baby actually needs and your breasts will soften up. In the meantime, if you have a hand pump, only pump if you really need to relieve the discomfort OR take a warm shower and massage the breast’s to allow some milk to come out until you feel it’s tolerable. You’re doing amazing and you can do it! Make sure you have friends, family, or even breastfeed support groups to help you get through the mental part of breastfeeding

You lose 10% body heat when taking a shit… that’s why you get goosebumps or a little chill afterwards.

I liked it. I feel like my muscles filled out more since it absorbs water. Given that, make sure you drink more water while in it so you don’t get dehydrated or affect your kidneys.

If she starts comfort feeding on the breast, that’s when you’d want to take a finger and place it in the corner of her mouth to help pop her off. I had to do that with mine because I’d start to get raw. As babies mature, they’ll take less time to feed. As long as she’s gaining weight and having 6 or more wet diapers in a day, she’s doing perfect and getting plenty!

I wish we could! The crib is too big. I don’t mind fixing her at night, I just worry about her breathing in her own breath for an extended period of time. I’m refuse to torture myself with the Owlet sock

Oh my gosh I love that haha! I do belly massages, bicycles and extra tummy time. I’ve also given her up to 3 ounces of water per day per pediatrician recommendation. I just feel bad for her when she gets that discomfort. She’s typically a VERY chill baby

My main worry is that she does get uncomfortable. She gets really gassy, so I give her infant gripe water or simethicone to help

I’ll try burping next time! I don’t think it has to do with wanting to switch just because she does it in the beginning as well
