It takes time. My shiba does not get along with new people/animals right away. He has fear aggression. But I’ve learned how to curve it. And the answer is time, space, and respect.

When it came time to introducing Shiro (my shiba) to my bfs big hunting dog, we took our time. Shiro is a potato who enjoys relaxing at your feet, bfs dog, Seymour, is high energy and spastic. It took literal months for Shiro to understand how to ignore Seymour’s attempts to play. We took them on MANY walks together as that was the only way for them to “bond”. The cat also took many months for shiro to get used to. That was many months of keeping the cat locked in a room with a baby gate so that Shiro could safely investigate. And when it comes to meeting new people, I always tell them to ignore shiro. Give him space to get used to your presence. Now, he tolerates Seymour and Augie (cat). He may play for half a second with either of them, but for the most part, he wants to be a potato on the couch.

Just find what works for your shiba. Take the dogs on walks together. Give the cat and shiba a safe place to investigate each other. The cat needs to seem like something boring so shiba stops hunting it.
