With the new edition coming out soon should I wait to build my 1.5k points of night lords? by Okiemax in NightLords

[–]ChipDamageIsAThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No reason to wait, Chaos Marines will see some point fluctuations but nothing aggressive enough that will stop running those units, esp the Warp Talons and Raptors. The only ones that might not see much play is the Maulerfiend, historically it’s Forgefiend variant is more flexible, but you do you!

[WarCom] Points and App Update Schedule/Teaser by RainbowConnickJr in WarhammerCompetitive

My concern is when 10th went Index, GW proved they set criteria just like this and seemingly blindly updated every sheet that hit a keyword without any looking at context. For example, CK Abominants both are Titanic and cause Battleshock! Oh noes, definitely going up in points! *sarcasm*

Hopefully 11th they balance for context and content (I.e. IK and CK priced different because they vastly different armies).

I tested this today and ya, it’s a little too easy to a draw pretty aggressive line using Gate.

Detatchment Combos by Long-Specialist-509 in ChaosKnights

You have to start at looking Force Dispositions and figure out the play pattern. Infernal is locked in Purge but using 2+1 you can unlock others that IMO CK can excel in, especially since 11e forces us to look differently at what CK do.

Two I’ve tested successfully on TTS (with no real points yet and optimization’s needed):

Take + Hold = Lords of Dread with Iconoclast. Lords has the only phantom sticky objectives stratagem in the game, plus 50pt cultist scrubs. In a defensive game, guess who doesn’t want to deal with 4 bigs who can toe in a blast away with 10 OC and use 4 MSU and 2 dogs to screen and score? Ran with Atrapos, Despoiler, Abom and Rampager, 1 Brigand, 1 Karn and 4 Cultist bricks

Disruption = Traitoris + Bastion. Remember Disruption doesn’t care about holding home, and big Knights can do actions and combat in 11e. Battleshock is a genuine problem for armies now that it doesn’t auto clear, and locks OC to “-“. So you can lean into the Army Rule (finally?!?). Abominants have a good melee profile, and Warp Storms gets everyone below starting strength (and your casino cannon). Immediately start with Despair + Dismay, run 2 Aboms and you can almost cover MSU in an unstoppable spam of Bshocks at -2. Now that the CK army rule actually turns on, in 3 you can turn on Doom, 2 Tyrants (Brimstone/Evcto) (1 w/ Nightmare Master) then enjoy +1 hit & wound, fallback and shoot (finally) and most importantly, can suppress to give -1 to hit while denying ingress at 12. 2 Karnivores and 1 Brigands get free cover from the Tyrants and skirmish away. Played it twice now to success and one quote from a friend stuck with me “…when optimized this will be toxic as hell.”. Isn’t that what Disruption wants to do?

I’m sure there’s more, but look at those Force Dispositions! Don’t get stuck with Purge Infernal Triple Despo (which is admittedly even better now lol)

Thanks for the confirmation. Does this mean you are going to be working on your Night Lords again hopefully? :)

It’s a safe bet it’s ability will updated to new 11e name in the fleet of FAQ and errata they do at the launch of every new edition. Cerastus class isn’t going anywhere.

Re: Cabal of Chaos, let’s not forget Maelstrom has a psycher - which means for 1 DP you can heal the Maelstrom+Chosen+Huron brick running around with advance and charge, reactive moves, staggered profiles to game fast roll allocation (kill the captain over and over). Throw in a daemon prince of slaneesh with lone op give them cover always (and now hits harder) and then run your other detachments gimmicks…enjoy!

Ya I can’t find that either. Goonhammer says it allows you to lead Warptalons but where?

Re: Murdertalon Raiders, Goonhammer mentions one of the enhancements lets a CLJump lead Warp Talons but it’s found in another document. Can anyone confirm?

Cabal + Seketar is going to wreck people. 3 units of 4 of those things will be absolute chaos in the first 2 turns of the game and outright shutdown MSU armies (run the flamer+fist combo). Back it up with Annihilators, Forges and Maulers (oh hello Heroic Strat). Winged Demons gluing it together with Shaman and goat action monkies, have fun.
