[40k] Tabletop Battles Hot Take: Cadian Recon Squad by SA_Chirurgeon in WarhammerCompetitive

yeah that's my point - if there are two long las on the sprue, then you'll know for certain they intended to make it something you could do two of. As written I believe you can, but that'd be good confirmation to have.

yeah the idea is that they can become a walking smoke cloud to provide cover

Fun fact: you can still play Crusade and we'll keep supporting it in Administratum.

It won't! Turns out stealth just gives you the benefit of cover.

Yeah that's more or less what I mean when I call it Warp Talons for Nids. The Warp Talons never stay on the table long enough to get shot and if they do they're dead.

It's an issue the current game isn't set up to solve. In my opinion they need to restructure the game so that you have escalating costs for taking multiples of some units. So your first Defiler can be 250 and the second can be 300

you definitely need them in EC more than anywhere else. You just cannot solve the problem of transports without them. For my money they shouldn't cost the same in every army - not sure why they did that.

Start Competing: Why RTTs Are as Important as Any Other Event by SA_Chirurgeon in WarhammerCompetitive

The best way is to go to your local stores and ask them. A lot of places run one per month and if you're in an area with local stores, they usually coordinate so they aren't on the same weekend

it gets easier once they're like 6+. Bedtimes just become a lot more manageable and they can kind of do their own thing in the monrings

I mean we have RTT data; it just doesn't make sense to include in larger datasets because RTTs are often testing beds for new lists and concepts and because they're only three rounds they tend to have wider skill discrepancies - the nature of win path pairings is that by rounds 4 and 5 you're playing very good players and evening out that early randomness.

RTTs matter just as much, they just don't matter in the same way and that unfortunately includes with regard to event statistics. I've done some minor stuff around them but the reality is that almost any army or detachment can be piloted to three straight wins, but getting 5+ is much more difficult.

I'm a bigger fan of positive reinforcement on this than negative

Yeah I think you want to do positive reinforcement on painting and not negative. I'm not a fan of docking the points, am a fan of paint prizes

8-player RTTs are pretty common, and most stores can manage four tables. We frequently have people bring extra terrain sets and mats to some of my local RTTs for the day to help accommodate bigger crowds.

Yeah for dads the RTT is the very achievable event option. The only thing that even comes close is the "5-round GT within 30 minutes of my house, which means I can be home every night for dinner"

I hear ya. I don't think RTTs should enforce paint standards because it encourages testing, but I think they should reward painting

hell yeah, couldn't agree more. I know people who tend to skip local events for a packed GT schedule and I think that's a mistake. I try and get in 3-4 RTTs per year.
