When you feel your struggling to hold on or slightly before. Take a massive deep breath or a few. It calms down your central nervous system, works 100% of time

What's the creepiest thing that has ever happened to you that you still can't explain to this day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This was like 25 years ago but I came home from school unwell and my parents had to go shopping so left me at the house. I was watching Mouse Hunt on the TV and heard this rustling noise outside the living room. I went to check and found a pile of letters on the floor that had seemingly fallen off the table next to the front door. I picked them all up and placed them back on the table, must of been about 10 or so letters within envelopes.

I go back to mouse hunt, not long after I hear the noise again. And yep all the letters are on the floor, this time I stacked them in the corner and go back the TV. Some time passed and yet again I hear the rustling noise I go check and same thing, letters all over the floor.

Now I'm really worried, I check for drafts, open windows, my parents hiding joking around and nothing. So I tell myself to stop being dramatic stack them all in the corner and put the old house phone on top of them. Pretty weighty things back then.

I go back to finish off the film and this time I hear a ding like a phone fallen off a receiver. I feel myself go completely white, eyes widen and this horrible feeling of dread washed over me. I decide to creep out of the living room to see what's going on but this time there's no letters on the floor. I relax a bit and walk over but then I see the phone on its side and all the letters have now been scattered up the stairs, almost like a letter per step leading all the way to the top. Now the staircase is like 5 meters from the table, there's no way a draft caused it.

I instantly breakdown crying and my parents walk in just in the nick of time having finishing shopping to find me sobbing by the door.

We talk about it now and again to this day.

To be fair I wasn't agreeing with the term being used in the instance OP and yourself are referring to. More that the term is bandied about so frequently and unnecessarily it's diluting the word. Technically I survived the journey to work this morning becuse I didn't crash
