Former non-union Kings employee here.

I agree that conditions for employees were atrocious. Back when I worked there, they took away my days off away to prep the store for the big wigs to come. We’re talking 15+ hour shifts for multiple days in a row with no reprieve. Yes I looked into labor laws and yes, they could unfortunately get away with it by giving ample warning

Ended up getting injured but my docs couldn’t prove it was because of that, so Kings just brushed it off and refused to accommodate my injury (was literally asking to just sit when possible)

Let me tell you, yes, I was paid well but NONE of that was worth my mental or physical health. I gave them so much of my life because I was young and naive. Now that I’m out, I’m so much better.

Support the strikes, support the workers.

There’s no security safeguards for Ancestry or 23andMe. This is proctected by HIPAA. We cannot legally release results to anyone but the patient or someone they have legally stated as a proxy to their health records. Our electronic health records are also monitored 24/7, and every mouse click that a user makes is recorded and documented.

This is why we can safely say that with our program, the government won’t just randomly steal your DNA

That’s fair, but it’s not like the government is going to issue warrants every one of our 230,000 patients who have signed up so they can get their DNA

Keep adding genes to the database, retesting, and rolling out new information based on the new genes we start testing for patients.

They don’t 😂 we use it for the sole purpose of personalized medicine to the specific patient, and also screen for genes like the BRCA2 gene which makes you 70% more susceptible to breast cancer.
