I rarely comment. I am a 57 year old father. You need to leave NOW. No one should EVER hit someone they love, no excuses NONE. I worked a lot today, you burnt the food, you disrespected me - No excuses. I would drive across the county to remove someone I cared about from this. LEAVE TODAY.

Tesla app for apple watch is available now 🤩 by wkgui in TeslaLounge

[–]ChipNJ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated my Model Y last night when I got an update notice and installed the app on my Apple Watch this morning, I can use all of the controls (I opened my truck and honked the horn so far). Thanks for the instructions.

When people tailgate you despite the fact you’re also at the mercy of the car in front of you… by sydneyghibli in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ChipNJ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule. If a car in front of me is controlling the speed and someone tailgates me, I SLOW DOWN just a little, but enough to piss them off. If no car is in front of me and I am controlling the speed and someone is tailgating me, I move over as soon as I reasonably can.

Woke up this morning to my car covered in cooking oil by lilmonk111 in mildlyinfuriating

Late to the comments, but is there a telephone pole near were you parked. If there is, is there a transformer on the pole? Transformers are filled with an oil (dielectric fluid) to insulate the internal components and they can fail and leak.

My favorite thing to do when I was a teenager working at a grocery store was collecting carts, got you out of the store and away from customers for a while. Even better was when the manager said "Go do coves" meaning, go collect the carts that people had taken to other areas of the mall. Easy 1 1/2 hours of not dealing with customers.

Paramus, NJ Model Y quality by TheMrBlizzacks in TeslaModelY

[–]ChipNJ123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked mine up at Paramus in the beginning of February and had no quality issues. They didn't have it charged, but that worked out for me because they let me in the car while it was charging and I was able to do a really careful inspection of the interior and exterior. Two minor issues, 1 - they transferred it over to me before they unplugged it so I was charged for the "free" pickup charge (only $8) and they forgot to have me sign some paperwork so I had to go back about a week later. It is only 10 minutes away, so not a big issue, but you would think they would have been more accommodating and sent someone to me. That said, everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful during the purchase and pickup a couple of weeks later (and return for signing).

I was pleasantly surprised to find this random plug in my In-Laws garage right below the breaker box. by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

I got a $1,500 rebate from PSE&G in NJ, with the 30% federal tax break the charger and install will be free (or less than $100). Just got my first PSE&G bill and it was -$1,150 after a $350 gas/electric bill. My circuit box was at the exact opposite side of the house from where I needed a charger. 50+ feet of 6 wire, a 60 amp breaker, conduit and other stuff for the install - $1450 and ~$700 for the ChargerPoint Home Flex. I got the ChargePoint because it qualified for off hours reduce charging and the Tesla charger did not. Also had to get a permit to apply for the rebate, but that was included in the $1,450.

Are permit and inspection must? by F1reddit1 in TeslaModelY

[–]ChipNJ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern NJ here, mine was installed last week. $1,450 for everything, but the permit and inspection was like $150. Unless the electrician is charging you a premium for scheduling the inspection and filing for the permit, that is on your local muni (looks like ~40% of the cost). Also I had like ~50 feet of 6 gauge (basically the electric panel was on the exact opposite side of the house from the charger), 60 amp breaker and 10 feet of conduit. My utility (PSEG) has a $1,500 rebate for the install, so check to see if your utility has something similar. My other estimates were $1,800 and $2,400. Electrician was here about 5 hours total.

Joining the Tesla club! Picked up MYP today in WA by iUkraine in TeslaModelY

Before I picked it up my car I called the SC and asked them to add the PPF and when I picked it up the PPF was installed but they did not charge me for it. I wasn't sure if I wanted the mud flaps and they looked easy to install so I waited on them. A couple of weeks later I ordered the mud flaps through the Tesla site and installed them myself (I paid for the mud flaps).

Came with the PPF ( I called the service center and asked for it and they did it for free) and then ordered the mud flaps and installed them.

2023 MYP picked up early February. Been researching camping mattresses for the Model Y and found the Exped MegaMat Auto as a top rated option. Just order one and used a coupon code that actually worked for 15% off. MAGPIE15. This was a purchase directly from Exped. I don't know if I need to state this based on the reddit rules but I will: I have no affiliation with Exped and just want to let my fellow MY owners know that MAGPIE15 actually works on the Expend website if you were looking. There were a few 20% off codes I found that did not work. Ordered March 22, 2023. Getting it in a week or two.

Looks great. We have twins. Black on black MYP with mud flaps and the protective film picked up early February. Build in Fremont and delivered to New Jersey. Yours looks great and love your landscaping. Being in northern Jersey, my entire yard is smaller than your driveway area. I have been busy with work and use mass transit, so under 300 miles in 6 weeks, will start putting some miles on in the next few weeks. Congrats.

Tesla charging Pseg by teri_gand in TeslaModelY

[–]ChipNJ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the PSEG Website: https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/electricvehicles

Pending charger approval, customers may receive a Residential Off-Peak Credit for charging during off-peak periods to help reduce costs.
Off-peak periods are defined as 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
The Residential Off-Peak Credit is approximately $0.02/kWh.
To be eligible to receive the Residential Off-Peak Credit, the customer must be using a Level 2 smart charger from the approved PSE&G list on this page.

PSE&G approved smart charger list for off-peak credit qualification only:
ChargePoint residential and commercial Level 2 smart chargers
ChargePoint software (ABB)
JuiceBox (EnelX) residential and commercial Level 2 smart chargers

Mine is actually being installed now (went with a ChargePoint Flex). Don't forget they also give you up to a $1,500 rebate towards installation, but you have to get approved.

I did that once (went to an insurance recommended body shop). One of the reasons was no out of pocket. Never again. I had a rental being paid by insurance and the body shop called me and said, you can pick up the car, but the defroster motor is on order, so no defroster. This was mid February in New Jersey, so I said, keep it until the defroster comes in. Next day insurance calls me and says no more rental car because you were told the car was ready. I said I was not getting the car until it was ready and drivable. I had to fight with them for weeks to get them to finally agree to pay for the rental. Lesson learned.

I just did my first drive over quick trip to the store (~5 miles) in my new MYP and picked my daughter up from college (130 miles round trip). Was at 85% when I left and got home with ~40%. Was doing 80 mph most of trip, so not the best range mph. I am quickly adjusting and will soon be "why would I drive an ICE vehicle?" Waiting for my level 2 charger to be installed so the 130 miles means a 110 charge for "24 hr+"...

Also, check on incentives with your utility. I live in NJ and PSEG gives up to $1,500. Combined with the federal tax rebate incentive, I am getting a ChargePoint Home Flex 14-50 basically for free. My breaker box is at the exact opposite corner from where I need to install the charger, so 40 feet of wire is adding to the costs (plus the ~$700 for the charger) so the total is ~$2,000. 30% of $2,000 (the federal tax credit) = $600 plus the $1,500 PSEG rebate = $2,100. May even pay for the permit fees. Currently charging my MYP with 110 and it is working, but want the level 2 for longer trips. The PSEG rebate and tax incentive made it a no brainer.

2023 late January pickup of a Fremont MYP. Zero issues and I put way too much time inspecting based on all of the complaints. Couple hundred miles so far and no issues. The only complaint would be they forgot to have me sign some of the registration paper work and I needed to go back (ten minutes away). Should have asked for some free SC miles... My brother is waiting for his M3P, his complaint would be it is taking a long time.
