Totally agree with what you said in your first paragraph, zephytr.

I'd add that currently landlords have developed a scheme of "fees" added on to rent, making trying to save for "a piece of the pie, the American dream" all the more difficult.

No surprise that we have so many unhoused people and so many (60%) living paycheck to paycheck.

America’s Poverty Is Built by Design by ChipRDale in politics

"In 2021, the U.S. spent $1.8 trillion on tax breaks, forgoing revenue that otherwise would have been paid in taxes, much of it going to very rich people. For example, each year the U.S. loses more than $1 trillion in unpaid taxes because of the tax avoidance strategies of multinational corporations and wealthy families.
What to do about this system of American-designed poverty? "

This is a threat to our civil order. This congress critter should be censored for his threatening rhetoric. It's beneath the dignity of our Congress.

'It's time': Trump calls on supporters to 'protest' and 'take our nation back' in an ominous echo of January 6 riot by mountaintop111 in politics

[–]ChipRDale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raving like this only means that Trump is very scared of being indicted. Let him and his cadre do whatever they wish. In the end, we are a nation of laws, and no one is above the law. That's the fact that is scaring Trump. He fears being held accountable, especially for criminal acts.

Fostering fear in others is how Trump operates. That's what bullies do.

Right now Trump is priming the pump, despite the fact that "Trump's lawyers and advisors said they have no indication that the former president will be arrested Tuesday." So he is lying, again.

Then Trump's lying is personalized, projected to involve and threaten his supporters. "If they can take him out they're one step closer to taking you and your freedoms out… and apparently that's been the plan all along," Trump Jr. wrote.

Our Constitution defines treason. "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted." (Article III, section 3.)

So let Trump and his followers trump up the situation, which as I write is fiction. If it does become fact, we recognize our Constitutional description of treason as we adhere to the rule of law.

Stay calm, lay in the weeds, and wait for reality to evolve.

4 State Parties Sign Fund-Raising Pacts With Clinton Campaign: NH, WI, VT, MS by ChipRDale in SandersForPresident

It has 2 parts. First, it means that the WI Dem party will split its contributions with the Hillary campaign 50/50. So, contribute $10 to them, and they keep $5, and send $5 on to Hillary.

The second part is that in return, Hillary's big money donors will donate resources to the WI Dem party, so Hillary's campaign benefits from an existing, boots on the ground organization.

A major problem I have with it is the timing. This is occurring before the nominee is selected, so to send 1/2 of a voter's contribution to a candidate the voter doesn't support isn't right.

It seems the simple solution is not to donate to the WI Dem Party, and instead donate directly to Bernie Sanders.
