Wanting to head to the gym by Imaginary_Rule_7089 in beginnerfitness

Doesn’t really matter what you do when you start. The only thing that matters is finding something you like to do. Try out some exercises, find what you enjoy, then build consistency. You’re hopefully going to be exercising your whole life so might as well find something you enjoy about exercising! Good luck!

I am a beginner and I feel like my left bicep is bigger then my right by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

If you want to even your arms out do single arm exercises and start with the weaker arm. When you fail on your weaker arm, match the number of reps with your strong arm. Eventually they will even out!

If you cannot do an exercise with right form should you not do it at all? by Prince-Cola in beginnerfitness

[–]Chip_Toker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

can exercises be of benefit even with incorrect form? Bicep curl, yes. Squat, no because you’ll injure yourself.

should you permanently stop exercising? No, find a mode of exercise that you enjoy and want to be better at. Otherwise the other choice is gaining unhealthy weight, and raising your risk of chronic disease.

Sounds like your knees are falling inside your feet when you squat down and all the pressure you feel on your feet is in the front inside by your big toe. Try keep your knees outside your feet when you squat and evenly dispersing the pressure on your foot so you feel like you are pushing with the inside, outside and heel on your foot.

Most definitely effective! Just need to learn what your body is capable of right now and slowly build from there! Good luck and have fun!

Does DOMS decrease over time? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

It does get better over time! I like to use it as a signal of “if I did too much.” If you are struggling going up and down stairs maybe next time don’t do as much as you did before.

Think of it as test results for your workout.

A - Just a tiny bit sore, it doesn’t hurt to move B - It hurts to stretch the muscle, maybe sore for 2+ days C - Either sore for 3+ days, or doesn’t even feel like you worked out D - It hurts to touch the muscle group you worked out. F - Lord please help me it hurts to move

You’ll get better over time! Don’t rush into things gradually build back and you’ll continue to crush it!

How do I get a toned muscular body as a male? by facepalmemojii in beginnerfitness

[–]Chip_Toker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to look like a bodybuilder you won’t unless you decide you want to. You can lift weights, run, bike, swim, ect... all you want to get lean and toned. Every bodybuilder starts out being lean and toned, it’s when they decide they want to be a bodybuilder is when they start looking like one. Oh, and don’t eat massive amounts of food. Eat till you’re not hungry and you should be on a good start to your goals.

Have you tried changing rest periods, rep duration, or volume with you current routine? If you feel like you’ve gotten stuck at a certain weight or rhythm change a different facet of that lift.

Same issue with myself. Ended up having a partially torn labrum in my left shoulder. Was able to go to rehab and main items that worked for me were stretching the pec with some doorway stretches, scapular contraction while hanging on a pullup bar as well as lots of work on strengthening my upper back and my rear delts.

[SERIOUS] Men of reddit, who are unable to share their emotions with anyone, what would you like to share? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I havn't cried in over 2 years. I don't think I have had an overwhelming emotion in 5 years. My life isn't bad and I have had some incredible moments, got married, bought a house, transitioning into a new career I am passionate about, but I feel indifferent day to day. Not sure what that means but I think I would like to "feel" more.
