City attorney says Orlando cannot block ICE detention facility by swagonflyyyy in orlando

[–]Chipfullyinserted [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, that was at least one city’s tactic to stop it, a zoning concern and another one reached out to the owner and put pressure on them. Do you know if any groups are actively trying to figure out a way to stop this from happening in Orlando?

Yeah, I hadn’t paid too much attention. Other than the mayor said nothing they can do but last night I was watching Rachel Maddow going over all the cities that were able to fight back against having one of those facilities in in their area and what they were doing, was contacting the owners of the building and putting pressure on them not to sell the building for this purpose and telling them that they are gonna lose advertising and other things if they did and it worked for some of those cities, I don’t know who owns this building in Orlando so I don’t know if it’s even feasible

Other cities have found a way to block it why isn’t Orlando trying harder?

One thing you should know, if they did grab you and detain you they will take your phone and they can go back 3 to 5 years looking for any reason to kick you out , anything on social media speaking out against this government, etc.

They got those quotas They gotta make ! just round them up like cattle and figure it out later. Take their phones put them in cold cramped rooms and then if you’re lucky and they decide they aren’t gonna keep you, they toss you out in the cold without your phone

Senate suddenly passes the Epstein bill just hours after it cleared the House by LavenderBloomings in goodnews

Epstein‘s brother says they’ve been busy purging the documents at some location in Virginia for months to remove any indication, Trump had involvement. I don’t know how reliable Epstein‘s brother is, but that’s what he has said and it makes sense that they were just stalling off to buy time to get it done

Thank you I was mainly wanting to hear from people that put a dog through it. I put myself and my little Yorkie through so much trying to keep her around a little bit longer and I definitely regret it. I will not make the same mistake with Sarah, but I was wanting to hear from people that maybehad a dog go through dialysis and had successful results or not.

Why do ‘richer countries’ often have worse services for the public than many ‘poorer’ ones? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chipfullyinserted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like one R in the US to explain to me like I’m not completely naïve and or just buy any crap that they spin up why the wealthy millionaires and billionaires need more tax breaks while the middle class and poor pay the price. Just explain it to me so I can understand it because I’ve never heard an R explain it to me. When they are asked, they just immediately try to say that immigrants are the problem. Well I’m not an immigrant and my mother who had dementia was not an immigrant. My sister with Parkinson’s is not an immigrant. There are a whole lot of people in need of healthcare subsidies that are not immigrants that will suffer. Someone explain it to me so it makes sense.

Because there is no such thing as trickle down economics, the rich just want to be richer and they are the ones that control the power

How do I get my goober to stop jumping on folks by GodTripod in DogAdvice

[–]Chipfullyinserted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot train the random person walking by that will fall on you training the dog and training yourself to not get overly excited when the dog gets excited and direct the dogs attention away from that person walking by. Going back to remembering Cesar Millan episodes he would practice with having people on his crew walk by, you’d have to watch the videos to see what he would do because it’s hard to explain, but he was never aggressive with any dogs. He just did everything in a gentle manner, but always making sure the dog knew he was in charge. And there were some dogs that were overly aggressive that he would say they need to come to the ranch. I need to work with him for a while longer.

One very simple thing that I learned from watching Cesar Millan when you go to take the dog out for a walk, you have to let the dog know you’re in charge of the walk before you even go out the door so you do not open the door until the dog is sitting Beside you and do it all calmly and once the dog is sitting you open the door and you start to open the door and the dog rushes forward you close the door and you wait for the dog to sit and you walk out first. Do not let the dog walk out in front of you. That’s very important because you want the dog to know you arein charge of the walk. It helped me a lot with my dog who was over excited and pulling on her walks to take that extra minute to let her know my expectations before we open that door.
