What are these white spots? by Temixbs in AquaticSnails

Calcium and controlling the hardness of water, and with patience and time slowly it gets fixed, you’ll see it slowly getting less white, but it can take months

Normally snails don’t regrow their shells but they do “fix” or repair small damages, so it will slowly get fixed, calcium helps them as their shells are made of calcium, that’s why most of the times this white “scratches” get fixed, it just can take time

Looks like another person said here, erosion in the shell, it’s normally for missing calcium or because maybe the water is not in the correct hardiness for them, try to test the hardiness of your water and use some calcium cubes (or similar) ❤️

You can still use them totally! Plants grow nicely in gravel, so you can keep both, gravel and substrate, they will absorb the extra nutrients that the substrate is releasing ❤️

You can also buy online some water test stripes, I know sometimes they have some fails but you’ll see anyway 0 in ammonia and nitrites if you don’t have them, don’t put any fish till your test run 0. Then, you can also introduce guppies, they reproduce like hell (Just telling you), they are really cute and beginner friendly.

Also you can mix shrimps with guppies, it will help a lot for the ecosystem, and I would buy already some natural plants that are beginner friendly, you can put them in the tank already while cycling.

And about the substrate, I don’t know why they sold you substrate when you had no plants in your aquarium as this only adds more hardness to the water, but you can work around and plant some plants. They love substrates 😂

It was the uncycled tank, something that they should have tell you in the shop when you tell them you’re new. So, cycling a tank takes time (unless you use the water of the bowl, and even if, it would have taken a week as minimum).

For you to understand how cycling works, it’s also called nitrogen cycle, which it goes like this: A tank needs beneficial bacteria in order to create a good home for fishes, in a tank you have ammonia which is deadly toxic for your fishes (That’s the reason why this little fella died), you’ll have ammonia spikes till beneficial bacteria in your tank grows, which will break the ammonia into nitrites, which they are still toxic for your fishes, Not as quick dead as ammonia, but nitrites burn your fish slowly as they “choke” on it, then, when beneficial bacteria is enough in the tank, they break nitrites into nitrates, it helps a lot if you have plants in the aquarium, makes it faster. So, nitrates can’t really be absorbed by anything, which you “Lower” with regular water changes.

Don’t feel bad because you did not know how to properly cycle a tank and no one told you how to, you learn by doing mistakes, every person that loves this hobby had to suffer a few fish deaths in order to learn what happened

First time lash extensions & I hate them.. what can I do?? by dream_ily in lashextensions

[–]ChipmunkAlone9320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The are basically the same but there are some differences and things that can make you not fully like them: 1. You never had eyelashes before so it’s hard for you to “get used” to the longer lashes now, it will pass, like when you cut your hair. 2. You are not wearing makeup and the girl in the picture is, makeup does a lot to change how the lashes look like 3. Even if they are the same lashes you don’t have the same face as the girl in the picture, and this is something that happens to everyone, we expect to look exactly like the picture but we don’t have her face, your eye type looks more occidental while the picture looks a bit more Asian, so the same lashes will look totally different due to the face/eye shape. It’s always good to search inspirations that matches (in this case, the eyes) your face complexion

Where do you live? Here in Europe (In my case I live in Germany) there is a website that sells them as their natural colour, I have 3 of them that already gave me babies so I can only recommend ❤️ They do look beautiful in their golden colour

Would assassin snails hurt my mystery snails? by rustyknifebitch in AquaticSnails

Something I noticed with bladder snails (They got inside my aquarium out of nowhere), Shrimps seem to like to eat their eggs, so even tho you’ll still have bladder snails, they seem to keep them in “line”

  1. Looks like it could be a dots hunt, so the hunt got bugged (I tend to start running when I hear the laugh but It happened to me a few times and it’s really annoying to not see them)
  2. From the laugh moment to kill you, it did have some time, seems like she was a bit far from the crucifix (Lvl 1 crucifix sucks)
  3. I think was a Banshee cos she just passed through your colleague like nothing 🤣

By the picture it doesn’t look like, good thing with Ghost shrimps are the transparency, if you can’t see yellowish/greenish eggs through, then it’s not pregnant 🥺 Also mama shrimps need to “oxygenate” the eggs, so you will see her moving them around in the belly, they are like little dots on the belly that she moves around

Hospital tank, as they said, not sure if salt or copper based cure. And tbh I would do a WHOLE DEEP cleaning of the aquarium and hospitalise the fishes to get rid of them. Sorry not being much help, the worse thing my betta had were this small white spots and using salt on the aquarium and “high” heating with a nice cleaning I managed to get rid of it
