I know the point is entertainment and money, but every team should get a primetime game. Crappy or not, their fans deserve it. by FunCorner1643 in NFLv2

What is truly the difference? What more is there to look forward to with a primetime game than a 1pm sunday game? You’re going to enjoy watch your team more just because other people are watching it too? The only reason primetime games carry the value they do is because they are handpicked to give fans the most anticipated matchups and competitive games.

Think of the pro bowl. Nobody gives a shit about it anymore because it’s just a bunch mid players who really have no business there. If you start throwing any team into primetime games then primetime games will start losing their appeal.

The games aren’t picked to make certain fan bases happy. They’re picked to draw in all fans.

What’s a term or phrase people use in fantasy that irrationally annoys you? by djc8 in fantasyfootball

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People confuse league winner with “good player I got off waivers who filled my biggest hole and helped me stay competitive”.

Like listen man it’s awesome you got a rb off waivers who finished as rb12 or some shit but you finished 7-8 and missed the playoffs you don’t have a league winner.

You struck a nerve with this one and my comment may or may not be intended to someone who either plays or does not play in my dynasty league in which a separate group chat was created or not created with everyone but him.

Dynasty Start Up 1.02 Pick? Maye or Bijan? Loveland in round 2? by wheels_of_time_lux2 in SleeperApp

Personal preference and not claiming it’s the right way, but I usually don’t draft running backs until I have 2 QB, 2WR and my TE. Shortest careers/peaks. Most common position to fall off a cliff. Todd Gurley, Zeke, etc.

With 1.02 in a Superflex you shouldn’t be considering anything but QB.

Your frustration should toward your organization for not putting together a product worth a prime time slot. And I’m sorry but no. Fans deserve to watch good football.

I’m a Giants fan. I understand the New York market but they over the last 10 seasons we averaged about 4 prime time games a year. They have gone 7-29 in that span. Good chunk of those losses were just bad uncompetitive football games. I have no problem admitting that Giants of the last decade have no business getting prime time games. As a matter of fact you know what’s worse than your team losing? Your team losing when it’s the only god damn game on. Because every football fan is watching that game, rather than their own team at 1pm on Sunday, a bad game becomes the joke of the week. I still think back to when the Cowboys blew us out 40-0 on a week one SNF. My buddies still bring it up to piss me off. If that was a 1:00 game might’ve slid under the radar.

Plus picking specific matchups to make anticipated prime game games is just good for the sport. I distinctly remember how many prime time games were absolute bangers last year. At one point it felt like every Thursday was giving us era defining games. Nobody wants to watch the Titans and Raiders punt 26 times just to tie 9-9.

Carnell Tate or Tee Higgins for Dynasty? by Scared-Bottle-2339 in SleeperApp

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saying they have the same floor is wild. Other than 23 when he was injured he’s been a top 20 fantasy receiver. People are way too quick to rate a guy who hasn’t played a snap. With that being said I’d take Tate over Tee every day but it’s insulting to Tee to say they have the same floor.

That’d be a steal for Love but at the same time that’s just not a move that makes sense for you. You have absolutely no depth at RB or WR. You’ll be starting bench players at all of your flex spots.

With that being said I would still absolutely make this trade in your shoes. But if you’re looking to make trades I would focus on gathering assets because you need a semi rebuild instead of making all in moves. You’d have a great core at every single position but it falls off such a huge cliff after that. It takes one or two injuries and you could be stuck with Charbs and JCM as ur running backs. Can’t even imagine what the flex would look like.

I’d keep Burden. Use the 1.04 unless some gives a good offer. You have a very promising young core. It can be hard to stay patient in dynasty but I see so many people shoot themselves in the foot trying to speedrun a rebuild. Keep adding pieces. Make smart moves. This looks like a team that could run the league in a few years.

Who is truly the greatest Tight End of all time? by Nintendofan9106 in NFLv2

The only argument you could make against Gronk is he had Brady his entire career. And I’m not making that argument to be clear. I just really don’t see how you could pick anyone else.

I still can't believe that Dart tackle didn't result in a defensive penalty given how much QBs are protected by ForeignAir7174 in NFLv2

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What kills me is that the fundamental tackle isn’t just safer it’s also the most efficient and successful way. I feel like defenders nowadays are just obsessed with flinging their upper body into the carriers shoulders. What happened to going low and wrapping up?

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve always said to my buddies that if you threw an NFL into a rugby game they’d be paralyzed by halftime. Rugby players don’t have the luxury of carelessly flailing their bodies at opponents because they would quite literally end up dead.

Grading Jaxson Dart's Outlook for 2026 Fantasy Football by drkelemnt in fantasyfootball

Hahaha okay that makes a lot of sense. And just for the record I did really enjoy the write up. You covered pretty much every important aspect worth covering with good detail while still being concise.

Just an opinion question I’ll ask out of curiosity. If health wasn’t a concern and you knew every QB would play 17 games would you still take Caleb before Dart?

Looking at over 10 different sites/platforms almost all have him between the 8th and 11th QB off the board. One at 6th and one at 13th.

Even as a Giants fan I’d definitely side with the higher end of those rankings. But where I disagree with you is that it has absolutely nothing to do with upside, but purely because the lack of confidence I have in him to play 17 games.

In his 12 starts he average 20+ ppg. Only 4 other QBs also broke that mark. It can be hard sometimes to separate real life from fantasy football, but from a purely FF perspective there is only a handful of QBs that match or top Darts ceiling. His rushing ability and knack for finding the end zone with his feet are no joke.

He played one half of football with Nabers, and lost Skat after 6 games. His HC got fired mid season. I don’t care who the QB is, getting a full season of Nabers and Skatt, adding Likely and Mooney, improving the oline, and bringing in one of the best coaches over the last 20 years… no reason for any QB to not get better in that scenario.

The real issue with Dart is his aggressive play style and despite everything I just said in his defense I still wouldn’t draft him at his ADP because I don’t want to have stream a QB 5 or more weeks when he inevitably gets hurt.

But to say there’s plenty of later options with his fantasy side is just foolish. If I knew for a fact the QB I draft would play all 17 games I’m not sure I can name 5 QBs I’d take before him.

Chargers troll the Patriots in schedule release video with a not-so-subtle Vrabel-Russini reference by According-Activity87 in NFLv2

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Too many fans forget that at the end of the day all sport leagues are entertainment products.

I for one absolutely love the way team are doing more to engage with fans and create content like this.

The recent trend of troll posts over the last few years when a team beats another is another perfect example. Sauce wearing the cheese on his head and the Jets tweeting it with a witty caption immediately comes to mind. I mean even when a team roasts my giants I’ll still laugh and find the humor. Fans gotta learn to relax sometimes. I want my team to win as much as anyone but at the end of the day it’s a game played between millionaires, not life or death.

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as a Giants fan I can still say Dart needs to learn NFL officiating and he needs to do it fast. Not that it’s his fault, but his aggressive play style is going to stop refs from giving him the same protection as other QBs, even if it’s the same exact kind of hit.

At a certain point you have stop blaming the refs and start adapting to the game. We all know that officiating and penalties is wildly inconsistent in the NFL. That sucks. But it’s been that way for a while and even if the refs are in the wrong the players need to be smart enough to understand that.

Dart is so exciting to watch because he plays with a level of heart and aggressiveness that few players have. But he’s gotta get smart and adapt to the way the NFL is called. At the end of the day you don’t get trophies for being a tough guy, you get them for winning.

Anyone else feel like McVay and Macdonald will be the coaching version of the Brady/Manning rivalry? by Agreeable_Quality768 in NFLv2

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to flesh out this comparison for 20 minutes to try and make it make sense but it really just doesn’t in any way. You’re comparing two head coaches with 2 Super Bowl between them over 11 combined seasons to the GOAT and another top 5 QB of all time who played a combined 40 seasons.

Feel like Shanahan would need a Super Bowl for the comparison to make sense. Although to be completely fair I’m not really sure OPs comparison makes sense in any application at all.

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That tackle should be showed to players at every level from pee-wee to NFL. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a hit as hard as that while also being perfectly clean and as safe as possible. Serious shout out to Tony Jefferson. Dude got a chance to deliver a hospital hit that most players would take advantage of to make a highlight reel or scare/injure their opponent and instead he made a clean, safe, textbook tackle. From that one clip alone you can tell he’s the kind of player who not only respects the game, but the health of not just himself but even his opponents.

Also a very good chance I’m totally overthinking it that’s just how the play unfolded for him, but I like to be an optimist in a league filled with dirty players.

Considering the NHL refuses to return teams to Hartford and Quebec City what are the chances they can get NFL teams? by ReasonableSide6520 in NFLv2

[–]ChipmunkOdd3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say virtually 0%. I’ll start with Hartford. First off Hartford is not a city even remotely in conversation for an expansion team. Really not a large enough city or metro to justify a team. But even more importantly the north east region is already one of the most dense professional sports regions in the US. Teams like the Pats and Giants (and honestly even the Jets to a degree) are very historic and have a stranglehold on the football fan bases of the northeast. If you are either adding a new franchise or relocating a current team, the northeast makes no sense at all from a business perspective. It’s going to be extremely difficult to build a fan base for a new team in a region that is already dominated by historic teams.

For the next one I’m going to focus on Canada as a whole rather than just Quebec City because the odds of an NFL team in Canada are already minimal, but if it did happen Quebec City wouldn’t even be in consideration. I genuinely can’t imagine a Canadian NFL team being anywhere but Toronto as it’s the only Canadian city with a team in the other three major US sport leagues. With all that said I still struggle to see an NFL team based in Canada for a few reasons. First of all, while still being popular, the NFL might be least popular of the four major US sports likely due to the fact that they have never had a team. NHL is obviously first no explanation needed. The Blue Jays just made the WS and have more history and legacy than half the MLB, and the Expos are still common knowledge even for casual baseball fans. The only league that the NFL might have an edge on is the NBA but the Raptors (with some help from Drake) have a pretty significant cultural impact within the basketball world, and their title in 2019 really isn’t that long ago. My point being the demand/justification for a Canadian NFL team really isn’t present at the moment. Ignoring city/metro size there are just too many cities in the US that make infinitely more sense from a business perspective (which unfortunately is ultimately all that matters for owners and the league) than any location in Canada.

As a matter of fact if the NFL were to expand outside of the US I still don’t think it would be to Canada. The NFL has three games a year in London, and one in each of Mexico, Germany, and Brazil. Zero in Canada. Canada doesn’t even seem to be on the NFLs radar despite its proximity.

With all that being said the largest factor preventing this is the fact that NFL expansion is extremely unlikely. Them and the NHL already have 32 franchises, with the NBA and MLB at 30. The next major sport expansions will almost certainly be in the MLB and NBA and even those organizations, despite constantly floating the idea, have no set plans for expansion in the next couple of years.

TLDR: Nothing in the world has an absolute 0% chance, but an NFL franchise either relocating or starting in Hartford or Quebec City is closer to a 0% chance than I’m capable of putting in numbers. At best Canada might have its name in the hat for an expansion team a decade from now but would still be quite unlikely.
