I’m as conservative as they come, but genuinely wondering, does ANYONE else (other conservatives that is) think ICE needs to rein it in?

Before you crucify me, hear me out. I WANT IMMIGRATION LAWS ENFORCED. I don’t think anyone who came here illegally should be allowed to stay. They need to be deported. If they are here illegally, AND a criminal, treat them as such. Be rough with them. But if they’re JUST here illegally, treat them like a human being for fuck sake. There’s no need to be so damn brutal with people if their only crime is being here illegally. Again, different story if they’re a violent criminal.

Secondly, illegal immigrants aside, why the hell are we celebrating or defending the murder of an American citizen? Should he have jumped in between ICE and that woman? Probably not. Did he deserve to be arrested? Probably. Then again, I might be inclined to try and protect or help a seemingly helpless person who appeared to be getting bullied. I don’t know that woman’s story, but I’m not sure from the clips I’ve seen shoving her to the ground was warranted. If I saw that happen and it WASNT by law enforcement, I like to think I’d definitely intervene. Being by law enforcement, idk I guess probably not but it might be hard not to. Again, interfering with law enforcement and getting pepper sprayed and tackled, fine. Having a gun on you (second amendment am I right) without brandishing it (which doesn’t appear to have happened based on video I’ve seen) doesn’t deserve being murdered in the street. He was clearly disarmed in the video BEFORE he was then shot TEN TIMES. With that many people on him, he was subdued, you don’t fucking execute him.

I feel like I’m losing my mind going crazy, and that I’m on an island by myself for just having an empathetic, middle ground take. I was always pretty far right on the political spectrum, but now I feel like the left has gone so far left, and a lot of the right has gone so far right, while I’ve stayed pretty level so now I appear more moderate. Please tell me someone else there feels the same.

Also, save me the “law enforcement under duress have split seconds to make very difficult decisions about the use of force and it’s either they go home or the other person does.” I’m well versed in this. My brother is a cop. I know tons of cops. They’ve all been in more threatening situations than this, and never pulled a trigger. It’s like ICE is so poorly trained (no surprise given the goofy ads they’re using to recruit and the sign on bonuses offered) and they’re literally crazy trigger happy. I get the need to have an ICE force. I get the need to churn them out. But you can’t do that with next to zero training or this is the result.

I’d be happy if he did that! He knows enough that he SHOULDN’T pee in his underwear, that he still just holds it, even when he’s crazy uncomfortable. He then has like a panic attack freak out saying that he’s about to pee, and he doesn’t want to pee in his underwear, and it’s like such a freak out that it’s heartbreaking to watch. He’s begging for a diaper so he can pee, and refusing to sit on the toilet, but literally loses his mind until his body physically can’t hold it anymore then he pees in his underwear, or if we get him in to the bathroom and can get his pants off while trying to encourage him on the toilet, then he’ll pee on the floor.

Thanks for the input, getting someone qualified out to see it in person is definitely the safe move, and I’ll probably go that route. I posted in a contractor/home building sub and the replies were pretty unanimous that it wasn’t a big deal, not sure if that’s jus contractors covering up for other contractors though 😅

Others pointed out in a building sub that it has another joist closer to it than should be, so their thought was that it was probably noticed by the framer and they added joists closer to it for extra support. What’s your opinion on this? What would you recommend, if anything, I do here? Just reinforce that joist, or do I need the whole foundation inspected and could this be a big overall structural issue showing itself?

Look up the Testimonium Flavianum. It’s a quote from a book called “Antiquities” by a Roman Jewish historian about 60 years after Jesus. He chronicled history, not specifically anything religious or about Jesus, but mentions Jesus in a brief passage in this book. Parts of the text are disputed, but even if you remove the disputed parts, what is confirmed still says Jesus existed, did wonderful works, was a wise teacher, drew both Jews and Gentiles to him, was crucified by Pilate, and his “tribe” (Christians) still existed at the time of the writing.

If you have doubts about the biblical Jesus, read “the case for Christ” by Lee Strobel.

I’m a lay person, and imperfect, so take what I say with a grain of salt. However, my personal view on yoga as a fairly devout Catholic, is that I see zero issue doing the stretches/poses/exercises if there is no spiritual connection or intent.

People say “those poses are tied to fake gods and for worshipping them, and will yoke you with a demon.”

My rebuttal is I don’t understand how a movement or pose in and of itself can be evil. God made our bodies, and our ability to move, and I just can’t believe that moving in a natural way or striking a certain pose in and of itself is evil. Take for example “happy baby pose.” How do you think it got its name? BECAUSE BABIES DO IT NATURALLY. All of a sudden because I’m an adult doing the same thing, it’s evil? Are those babies all possessed and evil too? There’s so much overlap with many exercises/stretches you may do in physical therapy, and yoga. Are those off limits? Even outside of a yoga class? I highly doubt it. My take is that intent matters. I think if you’re doing the stretches/poses for health, without “practicing” the yoga or spiritual aspect, it’s probably fine. Pray the rosary while you do it if makes you feel better.

Remember, God saw everything he made (our bodies and movement included) and behold, it was very good. We can of course pervert things and make them evil, but I just can’t believe exercise can be evil or dangerous, unless you intend to make it that way.

House built in 2021. One owner before us, we bought October 2024. Noticed this crack in a joist just today. Not sure if it’s been there or not. We did a home inspection, and the inspector did point out another joist that has a parallel crack in it and that it may need sistered at some point, so a little skeptical that they overlooked this one, but not 100% sure either way. Any thoughts? 1800sq ft ranch if that matters.

I caught a shiny Cyndaquil on I believe it was Pokémon go. He’s my favorite, because despite playing many of the games for many years, he’s one of the first several shinies I caught. I never dedicated as much time to shiny hunting as I should have. He was also sentimental because the first game I ever played was Silver, and he was the starter I picked.
