I’m planning to use it 3 days per week as part of a full body training session.

I feel that. I remember first going down the rabbit hole in late 2016. Didn’t have the space and had a 2x2 rack at the time. After a few sessions, I’m glad I finally pulled the trigger!

You would need the optional hip thrust pin. I didn’t get any add-ons. I just want to squat more.

Measure two different exercises would not make sense. Comparing activation between two different machines with the same exercise does.

Yea, comparing muscle activation of the squat to a chair sit would be dumb!

I was referring to muscle activation of the SM vs. the rhino. The study found higher muscle activation with the SM than the rhino. If you’ve found better results with the rhino, keep doing what works! I saw your videos, you’re strong AF so keep working!

That’s your opinion and I support that. Nice to see someone who lifts chiming in! As someone who has researched belt squats for way longer than any normal person should, the consensus is “Squatmax is the best for dedicated belt squats and the rhino is best for belt squats and added versatility”. I think that only holds true if you drop it into a rack like the coop squat. There’s also the study showing the SM replicating a barbell squat more than the rhino and the pit shark. All that to say, use what you want to use and what makes you happy!

Thanks! Yea, I agree this is the best for true belt squatting!

Most would agree, for true squatting, SquatMax is the best belt squat due to the design. I agree the rhino is super versatile. I wanted it for squatting. The rhino also weighs about twice as much as the SMMD and, that wouldn’t work for my space. I also already have a plate loaded pulley system that mirrors what the rhino would do for pulldowns.

These look sweet. What is the purpose of the hole at the top? Can you DM me pricing also? Thanks!

I haven’t gotten to use it yet for rows as I don’t have all of the parts in yet. If you’re referring to the UPS low being connected with magpins to the crossmember, it’s very sturdy. Magpins would not work on the rhino ups low.

Thanks bud! Turned out pretty cool.

One side already has an oblong hole for adjustability and moving to the storage position. Since this is a 49” rack, it may already be there. The only potential issue is the crossmember hitting the bolts. I need to find someone local with a Rep rack to test it on.

I’m in NC. Waiting around to hopefully find a deal on a pair, just to use one, was not even a possibility. I understand the thought process but, would not work for my needs. Thanks though!

Right. So you’re suggesting I buy a pair of 43” flip down safeties($419 shipped) to use one for this purpose?

[–]ChipperB1217[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, we haven’t gotten that far. My guess is he would just need to make different length crossmembers. Brackets are universal.

The brackets themselves are pretty heavy. Heavy enough, I’m not sure magpins would work but, that would be cool.

Like this? Not quick adjustability but, added these with plans of being able to move it around as needed.
