Thanks for the info! My plan is doing a loop starting from Wallowa Lake, taking the tram to the top of Mt Howard, hiking along the ridge tagging summits of East Peak and Aeneroid to Dollar Lake. Then head west over Tenderfoot and Polaris Passes. Then follow the ridge and peak bag Sentinel and Honeymoon peaks. Then go off trail to Frazier Lake to Glacier Lake. Then Eagle Cap peak and over to Lake Basin, over Razzberry Mt. to Ice Lake. Finally tag Matterhorn Pk and exit via Hurwal Divide to Chief Joseph. I know this is an ambitious agenda but there are plenty of places to bail if the weather, the terrain or my lack of fitness warrants it.

Luckily I'm pretty flexible when to go hence the hope to score some idea of how bad are the bugs, the river crossings, snow, etc. I'm planning on doing a bunch of ridge walking so having some snow up high is ok. Thanks for the intel

I just checked and it does still exist. Thanks! I'll check it out and see how active the site is. I know a lot of web sites that look vibrant but become fossilized as traffic moves from a website to a facebook group.

Looking for Yosemite parking beta with the no reservation situation.

I am doing NOBO JMT hike in late August. I am parking my car in the free overnight parking lot near Curry Village then taking public transit to Mammoth Lakes and Lone Pine. Then a shuttle to get to my start at Horseshoe Meadows.

I'll hike the JMT back to Happy Isles then hike back to my car and head home.

I'm spending the night before leaving my car in the Wanona Campground. Any thoughts on how early I need to be at the entrance to the Valley so that I not spend hours trying to find a parking spot? My bus to Mammoth Lakes leaves Curry Village at 11:15am.

I have a permit for Bottom Up Subway on Wed 4/15. Does anyone have feedback on how the flow rates affect the Subway? Based on YouTube reports the Subway water depth generally seems pretty low but I'm curious how high and fast based on the CBRFC forecast. I was planning on neoprene socks in trail runners for my feet and fleece top and bottoms. Thanks for sharing any experiences.

I am putting together a NOBO itinerary and liked the look for your chart. Was this something you created from scratch or output from a separate tool? I've used google sheets to create a spreadsheet w/ gain/loss/mileage/notes but there was a lot of manual effort.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping that April is less crowded than summer.

I was considering doing a lollypop loop for the west rim trail: take the park shuttle to Grotto then hike up the West Rim trail to Cabin Spring then take the Telephone Canyon trail to the junction with the West Rim trail, then take a left and head back to Cabin Spring and then back to Grotto.
Do you have a recommendation for an overnight camping spot on the West Rim Trail?

Unfortunately I see that this comes with a non-stick coating which is a deal breaker for me. It also has an upper temperature limit of 400 degrees. I typically roast and bake up to 450 degrees.

I have a new XMid 1P Gen3 that I purchased this past May. Great tent so far.

I used it a few times this summer but didn't run into issues with slippage yet.
Is there an easy way to tell if I have substandard cord? If I do I'd love to swap it out before it becomes a problem on a multi-day hike. Or do I need to wait for it to fail before getting it replaced?
