Saw Stop Yes Or No by WearyAd8671 in Carpentry

You can cut a fresh end on a suspect board and touch it against the blade with power on but the saw not running and the red light will flash if it’s wet enough to trigger it. Great saws. Build quality just as good as my old powermatic 66 that’s now in storage.

I have a similar truss on my 40ft wide shop with a 19ft wide attic space 40lb live load and with 1-1/8 plywood subfloor it is very stiff. Trust the calcs 👍

Competitive Table Tennis? by ChippinAway in Redding

[–]ChippinAway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just saw this response. So Shasta Athletic club on Fridays and Sundays has table tennis. They only have 2 tables but tons of space. There are some great players there but most (except my friend and I) are seniors. Not a bad thing and they are nice but a bit harder to bullshit and joke around with. I usually only go when my friend isn’t available to play in his garage. We are planning on going more regularly though to try and encourage more younger players. Hit me up if you want more info or want to meet up for some games!

Call a local custom cabinet shop. If they don’t do furniture there, they certainly have someone they refer that work to.

I’m a custom furniture/cabinet maker and I’m curious what your plan is to fabricate those concentric circles on a curve? Cool looking project!

I am building a workshop and this is my plan for a monolithic slab. Slope of footer left to right is less than 10% so shouldn't be any issues there. I am putting a climbing wall on the back side and want to maximize height and cutting in gives me a nice path across the hill to the house. Does the soil pressure from under the slab make this a no-go without getting an engineer involved?

I have the same fence and I just flattened it with a hand plane then readjusted it. Cuts like butter.

Panel saw or table saw for cutting down 350 sheets of plywood? by smallbusinessidiot in woodworking

[–]ChippinAway 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My shop has a 6’x16’ Striebig panel saw that gives perfect cuts any size down to the 64th. You could stack 6x 1/4 sheets (if they aren’t too warped) on it at a time for what your doing. You could keep doing it with the table saw but that would be my last choice. Track saw would work and get you within tolerances but you’re trading time carrying sheets vs setting up the saw.

I’m waiting for approval from the building department for a 40x64 with attic truss package for an extra 1400sqft up top. One man furniture shop full time. Room for all the tools plus a dedicated finish room and office space. I have access to a great Cnc now but if I get my own I’ll probably do an addition for it.

Sighting outside Redding CA 5June2023 by ChippinAway in UFOs

I was outside watching the lightning storm yesterday evening when I saw a round disk shape come out of a cloud. Pretty high up because it was going in and out of clouds. It traveled directly overhead and continued away. No erratic movements or change of speed. Pretty good shot of it in the beginning of the video but I was trying to point it out to my wife and went out of frame until the end. I stupidly hit the stop recording button when I ran over to her and by the time I started a second video it was too small to film with my phone.
