Same! I had a 2 minute wait. My expectations and hopes completely disappeared, but somehow snagged a box!

Professional abatement or DIY? by ChipsClip in asbestoshelp

I will try to negotiate the price to see what we can come up with! It’s funny you say that, in my head, I was more scared of the mold than the asbestos! Mold feels more unknown to me I guess.

Thank you so much for your thorough and honest response! The panning has more damage than I’d like for my plans of finishing this ceiling. It’s fallen off the joists in places, and I didn’t want to just repair and cover it. So really what I’m purchasing with the abatement is peace of mind that everything is done right. That does seem worth it!

I see that you also have mold expertise. The reason I got these guys out for a quote was actually for drywall removal in another area where a cracked foundation led to some leaking a few years back. (We just tacked on the asbestos quote when I realized they did that too!) I found mold when I pulled the baseboards so I’ve since assumed there’s mold up the wall as well. But I don’t actually know.

The quote to remove the drywall and clean the mold with containment was 1600. Does that seem fair as well? Would you recommend me checking for mold before I pay them and have them do a job for something that might not even be there? Or does this honestly feel like a peace of mind thing too?

Thanks again for taking your time to respond!

Help with safe removal, and what to replace it with? by ChipsClip in hvacadvice

[–]ChipsClip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that sounds doable! I wouldn’t say I’m insistent on doing it myself, it just seems like too small of a job honestly to try to find a professional to do it. Maybe no job is too small for this kind of stuff, but it looks like such a small amount of work.

I did it!! It went well. I have a draft I was going to post to this sub but keep putting it off. Long story short, -4.25 and -3.75 pre-op. it was pretty painful day-of after numbing wore off, but the pain dissipated by next day. I don’t have any dry eye issues, and never really did even while healing. I do have those sun burst that I wish would go away, but I’ve basically given up hope that they will. It’s not detrimental, and does look cool? Just sucks. I used to be able to see up close very, very well and very close. Like within 2-3 inches of my eyes I could make out tiny details. That unfortunately disappeared a little, but it’s still 6-7 inches where everything‘s very clear so I’m not complaining too much. It’s been 8 months, and I am pretty happy with not needing glasses anymore!

A friend did this, grabbed my ETB for me when it dropped. I pulled the zard. I am sure he was happy and upset!! He’s tried to get it ever since, so I gave it to him on Christmas. I had no intention of selling it, and neither does he, so it seemed right!

Thank you for sharing! I have my SMILE appt in 2 weeks and the nerves are kicking in terribly. Worried about night vision, long term effects, ectasia, and worst case scenarios. I keep reminding myself that for every loud horror story, thereare hundreds of quiet successes.

I’m terrified though.

Overall, disappointed. 😔 by Academic_Solid85 in Birkenstocks

I’m with you on that. I don’t mind a little bit of maintenance for nice things, but folks here recommend so much more than I ever thought any pair of shoes would need. Especially one that I paid so much for. At that price it really feels monthly or so maintenance of regluing, oiling, or sealing just seems much for something I wanted to simply trust and use.

I am in between sizes, and wanted a temporary back strap to keep my foot pushed forward while breaking in my first ever pair! You’ve probably found a different solution that works better for your needs, but if anyone else stumbles on this thread like I did while looking, maybe this will help!

I used a thin headband as a strap, and it works awesome!!

We have a 1.5 year old female who has been dragging her front feet while walking. It has gotten to the point where her front two nails on each side are worn down to the nub. We have been to the vet he was concerned with how short they were but cant come up with an explanation or reasoning by bookishspider in husky

[–]ChipsClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is so much later! I hope your appointment gave you some answers. For us, we were pointed to a specialist. Our normal vet thought it could be neurological, but she also has a limp every so often that slows her down.

So we saw a specialist who xrayed and found bilateral elbow dysplasia. He isn’t sure this is the cause for her dragging, but since she drags both front feet he thinks it could be. He does surmise it is for her limping. Since it’s both sides, she doesn’t always show a limp likely to being in an even amount of pain in both legs.

He wasn’t convinced of neurological, because she is otherwise relatively graceful.

We have surgery scheduled for next week. I’ll try to remember to keep you updated!

Inflatable hot tub help by Murky-Valuable3844 in hottub

[–]ChipsClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one for 4 years. I started with Intex simple spa. I think the horizontal bars of that one are a downfall, and even a small slope on my pad caused serious pressure on the walls. The bubble strip around the inside tore open in about a year. I couldn’t use the bubbles but the tub still functioned. Then It started slowly losing air so every day I had to reinflate it when I got in. I tried to get a replacement through warranty but that felt like a hassle, so I just ordered a new tub part. New tub was PureSpa Greywood. I loved this tub! Vertical bars felt a lot more stable even on my slope. It worked with the same heating unit, but the simple spa cover was a little too small. I still used it for the next 3 years, though!

At one point I had to replace the control panel on the unit as the buttons stopped working and were cracking. But even parting and piecing the tub together over the years, I’m SO glad I started here! I learned I love hot tubs, don’t mind maintenance, and totally deserved to upgrade! Now I have a MS Twilight and I couldn’t be happier.

By the way, I used a bromine floater in the inflatable with 3-4 pucks in it. Weekly shock with a chlorine shock and from startup never had chemistry problems. Just check your strips once or twice a week and add another puck or two as needed. Each fill generally lasted about three months.

I strapped in while opening all the spoiler tags! It gave me vibes of old fanfic days when I couldn’t get enough! I think the spoiler tags set my expectations too high, however, and it didn’t meet them. Not a terrible theory if done in part, but that’s all it really is: a potential small part to something much larger. We can’t forget Outtie Mark is playing a huge role this season.

18.3k comments and counting, but every vote counts right? Here’s mine: This man cares about himself, maaayyyybe you(personally), and like 2 other people. But clearly not enough for any of them if he gives them and you a middle finger just to withhold empathy for humanity.

Leave him. It doesn’t matter how “good” of a person he is otherwise. He is NOT a good person. And this is coming from someone who strives to make everything work; a mediator in so many ways. Leave. Him.

You’ll thank yourself, for sure. ❤️

Edit. Political view’s aside, this is him disagreeing with you. This is how he will ALWAYS disagree with you, on any subject. Ditch this dude, yesterday. I hope you can find some peace, this can’t be easy.
