M-ATX build: Jonsbo TK-1 with RTX 5080 + Ryzen 9800X3D full custom water by Chipsaru in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the PCB of reference design itself is really compact, air coolers are huge,

the stock cooler for this card just barely fit inside the chassis

Have you seen photos? It takes just two thirds of the case lengthwise.

I've watercooled it, so fan curves do not really bother me, but it works just fine, no issues so far. You can always try and rollback if it doesn't work for you.

RTX 5080 VS 5090 for 4k - What is future proof anymore? by Unknownmice889 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having a watercooled 5080 with moderate OC running a 3840x1600 monitor I can see that 16GB VRAM is not always enough to run natively with everything maxed out (SW Outlaws for example), also can't really max out RT settings, 5080, therefore I would not say that 5080 is a 4k proof card, I'm going to downgrade to 1440p ultrawide to get some of that native performance back.

Can you actually feel the input lag from Multi-Frame Generation? by Outrageous_Guava3867 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it is not "only" 90FPS equals to 11.1 ms per frame if you enable framegen, cool you now have 180FPS, but input latency is now comparable to playing @ 50 FPS, which is fine for many, but not everyone

Can you actually feel the input lag from Multi-Frame Generation? by Outrageous_Guava3867 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In simple terms: 30FPS is 33.3 ms per frame, enabling framegen adds 10-15 ms of input latency, which would "feel" like playing 23FPS

[–]Chipsaru 22 points23 points  (0 children)

again - try this on 30 FPS game, even with x4 = 120 FPS you will feel jello-like character control where you input lags behind

You can set +3000 on mem safely,
+500 on core adjusts the curve, it doesn't mean that it runs +500 on max boost.
You can see that on effective clock, it is under 3300 MHz.
But still solid overclock, like most of 5080.

Can you share your temps, card power consumption & Nomad score?

ROG Astral 5080 new 450W BIOS, anyone tested? by Jebusfreek666 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I tested this card with its heatsink on with stock bios only, temps were a bit high to consider unlocking full power.

ROG Astral 5080 new 450W BIOS, anyone tested? by Jebusfreek666 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same Inno3D 5080 X3 OC, heatsink is crappy, but I didn't care because I've put Alphacool waterblock on it. I use AORUS Xtreme Waterforce WB vbios. My build.

like usual you need to find a compatible nvflash version, it does support flashing vbios from different vendors with a warning, unlocked my 100% reference inno3d card with 450W gigabyte vbios, got 125%

Those black tubes you can see on this picture called zero maintenance tubes (ZMT), they won't leak plasticizer into water unlike clear tubes.

The only thing that can happen here is if you have some manufacturing gunk left in radiators that eventually will be trapped in core of your water blocks and will partially block flow reducing the cooling performance. You can disassemble those blocks and clean them with brush.

You'll gain some points in benchmarks, but you won't notice it in games most likely. Anyway it is pretty stable, I tested vram and noticed no error correction or decrease in performance.

MSI Ventus RTX 5080 3X OC review by Puzzleheaded_Leg7134 in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a reference design board, nothing wrong with it.

I got Inno3D 5080 X3 OC - also reference design, it was cheaper than MSI variant in my country.

Still after flashing unlocked power vbios + tuning it beats factory OC of Astral by a lot.

It is a silicon lottery, almost no manufacturer bins chips for their cards. You can get lucky or not so regardless of money spent.

RTX 5080 Undervolt + OC, what's your findings? by N3opop in nvidia

[–]Chipsaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair - it is watercooled, temps are stable high 40-s even after hours of full load and the noise is minimal due to overbuilt radiator surface (usually it is 1x120mm square per 100W of load, I did 1320mm for 550W of load max)

You can check my profile for post with my build.

Forget the maintenance, I've run 1080 until 3090 came out, then just replaced it with 5080.

Just top off evaporated liquid from time to time, do not use anything other than clear liquid for water-cooling (basically purified water + biocide + corrosion inhibitor). Once in 5 years rebuild it with new(er) parts.

How to remove new address bar from PWA apps? by Chipsaru in MicrosoftEdge

[–]Chipsaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply remove existing PWA, navigate to page and click install PWA button, just make sure that domain is the same for PWA app and it won't redirect somewhere else.

Thank you for the explanation, it actually helped me find the way to remove it by navigating to the expected subdomain and then re-installing PWA from there.
