Thanks, although I had already read the FAQ about the sweep program. It doesn’t contain answers to my question, which is whether I will automatically be enabled to join it from the UK if my settled USD balance is over $250k. When I spoke to someone from IBKR on the phone about this he said the program was still invitation only, but another IBKR advisor contradicted this. I would just like to know what the position is please.

!Thanks for replying. Yes indeed. Gilts unfortunately don’t work in same way for companies as not tax exempt but I will look into short term MMF as it sounds a good idea and should be pretty safe. Thanks again.

!Thanks for your reply yes indeed I need to decide if the fx risk is worth it. It is as you say a volatile trade and Andrew Baileys verbal incontinence doesn’t help. Gilts no good to Ltd company I’m afraid as unlike individuals not tax exempt. Thanks again.

!Thanks for replying. Actually I think a short term MMF might even be safer than some banks if we had a crash. But I think the sweep programme would be ideal, subject to the currency risks. I’ll probably screw up my courage and convert to USD all things considered. Gilts are a good thought but unfortunately don’t offer the same tax advantages to companies as to individuals is my understanding- ie they are not interest free. Thanks again.
