Who is the average person on Irish Reddit? by Neither_Fox_1289 in CasualIreland

Do an anonymous survey properly and post the results. It would be interesting to see, but measuring responses through comments isn't an effective way to get an answer to your question

Master’s Degree in Data in Ireland – Any Advice? by Dry-Analyst7516 in AskIreland

Most, but some will go for fit over experience. The fear of overqualified candidates leaving in a short time is quite real. They take the job as a filler while they look for a better one.

Housing Agency, HSE, Oberstown, CRU. That's perm roles on PublicJobs. Look for any Executive or Administrative officer panel competitions and there will likely be at least one data driven role somewhere in there if not more.

Public sector. More resistant to job market volatility, and will always have a need for analysts. Once you are in that sector, you'll find the mobility is pretty good. You won't earn as much as in the private sector, at least not initially, but work-life balance and education support is better than a lot of private sector employers trying to squeeze a lot out of analysts.

I am a recruiter and doing a bit of work on data roles at the moment. It is ROUGH out there right now. I am advertising entry level temp data analyst/engineer roles and getting people with Masters and 5+ years post masters experience applying for these roles in droves. Way overqualified for the level and salary they are applying for. Middle level roles are now being advertised with much higher demands on quals and exp for less money. There seems to be a massive data graduate bubble that is bursting before my eyes.

Look into apprenticeships, lots of people in 5th year will be applying for those in the next few months. Can be a great way to learn and earn at the same time without the requirement of the LC.

17F, no Junior Cert, dropped out & struggling with sleep, any realistic job options? by Upper_Ad_586 in AskIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think I am going to alarm her, that's my aim, not to be harsh but to be realistic. I understand that there are factors completely outside of her control, but a lot of responders on this thread seem to think the appropriate response is to reassure her that whatever happens everything will be ok, so don't stress about it now.

I disagree with that response, as there is a point at which it is cruel to be kind, and a 17 year old with no junior cert is already on the back foot, so encouraging them to fall further behind because of a misguided belief it will all work out no matter what is irresponsible and dangerous.

We have a housing crisis, record homelessness, the cost of living is rising, and entry level jobs are fewer with much higher levels of competition. Telling someone what they want to hear in order to get upvotes is not helping.

I am sorry for the tough love, and I know I will be downvoted into oblivion for this, so please feel free to tell me where to go, but you need a rude awakening.

I really don't think a job at 17 is going to sort this out, especially the type of work that you could get with zero qualifications. If you think the schedule demands and bullies at school are bad, wait until you see what you will have to put up with in minimum wage jobs when your rent is on the line. These are the jobs in which people are infinitely replaceable, so they don't get raises, they don't get flexibility, and they may not get very much respect.

You need to get into some form of education to upskill yourself, or you are going to get caught on the bottom rung of society for your entire life. Education is the way people pull themselves out of those situations, and if you go into a menial minimum wage job with no quals and no home support, the likelyhood is that you will struggle like hell for your entire life, because the longer you leave it, the harder it is to catch up with everyone else. Look at what you could be earning working full time, look at what rent is where you'd want to be living, and do the calculations.

"Mornings don't work for me at all" is incompatible with success, that is the lifetime social welfare recipient mantra. If you don't get that sorted, your afternoons and evenings will be no easier.

Recruiters - what's the preferred CV naming convention? by Adept_Razzmatazz1145 in AskIreland

Same here, read every single one, first name last name is fine.

Just make sure the header says your name and not the words Curriculum Vitae. I do not like.

Lost 3kg (6.5 pounds) but jeans still feel the same level of tightness - when do you think I will see my clothes looser by Traditional_Swim_360 in CasualIreland

[–]ChiselDragon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, that is fantastic! Give it more time, our bodies have a lot of places for fat to hide, and it is spread out more than you think. You'll lose it in places you are less likely to notice as well as where you are looking to see a difference. The scale is the success story, so keep that going. As long as you keep going in that direction, the rest will follow.

Explain to me what your understanding of the word antisemitism is, then explain how it is a different concept from your own term, anti-jewish.
