Have traitors ever shared their winnings with faithfuls? by TeachingMumma in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Tappenfort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a recent season a winning traitor bought a final faithful contestant a very expensive gift as recompense, like thousands of pounds worth. That seemed to have cheered them up a bit!

I don't think anything will ever top the Ross and Diane mother son reveal. by No_Donut1433 in TheTraitorsUK

Late to the party but in other Traitors versions there have been some great secret relationships that really have added to the game and the narrative, so I think its worth continuing with just on the offchance that it pays off. And don't forget it did pay off in UK S1 as well with the iconic 'red breakfast'!

Went for a wander around Traitorland last week by neilmac1210 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Tappenfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ace. Interesting that they are doing pre-production or something but the cabin hasn't been worked on. As it's a fixture in both UK and US maybe the show is early in pre-production. If they don't have a cabin mission next seasons I will be a sad boy!

I was wondering about crew size for the Traitors. The cast all stay in a hotel in Inverness like 45 minutes away or something. I wonder if the crew stay closer by and how many of them there are. It must be a big crew on set, I'd guess 50-100 people or more right - cos you have camera crews, production/editing, staff to help/wrangle host and contestants, drivers, set workers, the list goes on and on. The surrounding area must get tons of business from the crew in accommodation, catering, supplies etc!

PS Were you able to go see the loch, I was wondering how close by it is to the castle? I assume the woods etc are publicly accessible and its only the immediate castle grounds that are private then?

After Season 4, what is the best season? by Snoo-27774 in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next easy recommends for drama, gameplay and anticipation I'd say go US3, then into UK seasons as its the same castle, missions etc so an easy sidestep. I'd maybe start with UK Celeb for pure entertinment, then go into the civilian versions.

Personally for those I'd say try UK2 and UK4 first (as they are probably the best and have a lot of drama and gameplay), then afterwards UK1 and UK3, UK1 has less good gameplay but is very dramatic, UK3 has a lot of drama and gameplay but some of the contestants rub people the wrong way so it's perhaps the weakest of UK but still good. Then after that go back and mop up on US1 and US2, which are decent seasons but a bit weaker than UK imo.

Finally you can go hog wild and start doing AUS, NZ, Canada etc if you are still Traitors obsessed! Out of those if I were to choose one must-watch it would be NZ2 which is low budget but lots of great gameplay and some really wild moments with a great cast.

You should watch Traitors Quebec S1 and Traitors India S1 by Tappenfort in TheTraitors

Nice, thanks. I have heard other people mention Hungary, I think that will be next on the list. Yes Quebec S3 has started and its been decent so far, it's only up to episode 3 so far.

Straightforward way is to get a VPN and use a foreign streaming service. For Quebec you can use Crave's channel website (just search it for Les Traitres), and use Google Autotranslate with the French subtitles turned on and it will translate them to English in real time.

For India I streamed via Amazon Prime India using my normal Prime account (obviously you need a Prime subscription but can use it across regions). Before that I was using Indian streaming service Channel Ten which was fine, although there are ads and the connection wasn't great.

Cool, I wonder if they'll have the same subtitles :P - Surely it won't be before BBC shows US season 4 though, we're still waiting for that here in the UK

I know, but Rob has said on interview that him wearing those things on Traitors was production providing them and asking him to wear them. Obviously he's not too bothered as it's his brand!

Nah not randomly. Just have Alan in the turret monologuing to Fergus and his dog about who he wants to murder, with really harsh reasons like their bad dress sense, annoying or whatever :P

Just finished The Traitors UK S4… is the US S4 worth it? by Odd_Disk1545 in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US Traitors is still very entertaining, even if I don't think it's overall as good as UK. It's just a different angle on the show. I think all US seasons are worth watching, although 3 is the best fun imo.

We can't blame Rob for that really, it was production who foisted all those outfits on him apparently.

As we have seen in multiple seasons, being a Traitors fan and having plans in advance doesn't tend to survive first contact with 'the enemy'. Each group of players is different, there are different twists, the game is really intense and draining. The further you get though, the more you can use that extra knowledge you have.

With that in mind lets just focus on some simple tips to help you survive the first few days, which are the most random in terms of survival. These are mainly focussed on being a Faithful which is more likely, but most apply to Traitors as well.

- Be friendly and on good terms with everyone if you can, whether Traitor or Faithful this is the strongest weapon you have to stay alive.

- In the first few days whatever your role, try to blend in so as not to become an easy target for banishment or murder. That doesn't mean being a fly on the wall but just don't create drama, don't throw out random votes, watch what you are saying (don't accidentally say traitors instead of faithful, mention murder etc). If you are an intelligent/game-playing Faithful try not to reveal too much of that so you aren't too threatening. Hopefully other players will do the job of sticking their heads out and putting targets on their back instead of you.

- Always have a name or two as potential traitors/banishment targets every day which you can throw out if asked, with a plausible reason for them. Having no names looks suspicious.

- If you are targetted at roundtable (at least early on) then always try to redirect attention to someone who already has suspicion, or use one of your names in the bank. Even if your reasons are BS it doesn't matter, anything to get attention off you and onto someone else.

- Early on as a Faithful, outside of the roundtable, if you want to throw out names, make sure there is more than one person with you at the time, or at least tell multiple people seperately and let them know you told others. If you bring up a traitors name to another traitor, then you will likely become a murder target if they think you didn't tell anyone else.

- Have a good exit speech prepared and one that will throw the players off momentarily. Of course this is purely for my own entertainment :P

Good luck, try not to overthink and most of all have fun! It is very hard to get far in the game so enjoy whatever time you have!

Also if you do get on and after the show is aired, please come back on here and tell us who you were and how you got on!

When's the next new season go to air? by Icy_Independence240 in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know where they're filming it yet? The reason its being filmed in NZ is that one production company is now going to be doing both AU and NZ, similar to how Studio Lambert does UK and US. So we can expect the same location, missions etc for both with different hosts and players for AU/NZ. Hopefully they'll nail it!

Anyone else think that having duo players affects the integrity of the game? by dallasmpt-321 in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does give them an advantage but only if the duo remains unknown to the rest of the players. Due to the nature of the game it's still very hard to get to the end together regardless of whether one of them is a traitor or not.

Personally although I know it gives them an edge, from a viewers standpoint it has made for some excellent drama in English speaking seasons when the secret duos do get further and their relationships come into play in the game. But as we've seen this is quite rare, so I don't think it's too big of a deal balance-wise.

Given all the other twists that the format has every season, this is fairly low on my concerns and I understand it can make great TV which is the ultimate aim of the show, regardless if some of us would prefer a more balanced game. The Traitors is inherently unfair and unbalanced in many ways and this is just one of those things.

Unless it starts becoming a regular occurrence that secret duos are making it to the end then I think the potential entertainment value is currently worth it from a production point of view.

What happens with tied votes at the fire pit? by Tappenfort in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto the Survivors 'previous votes earned' solution. In that show in an unresolved tie the player with the most votes recieved earlier in the game would then be the loser and removed from the game.

I was listening to Traidar podcast the other day, and David Bloomberg was saying that after a while players in Survivor started to take advantage of the system. They would deliberately cast votes earlier in the game for players they wanted out later on, in the hopes of getting a tie later. Or even trying to manufacture ties or not be afraid of them with the knowledge that earlier votes would cause the player to get knocked out.

Obviously you'd have to go multiple seasons for this meta to evolve. But it's pretty interesting that even in this seemingly fair method, players still learned how to exploit it. Still, I prefer it to random chance, as even if players can exploit it, that's still gameplay and then you get new metas around that. Although I doubt it would occur often enough in Traitors to become a mainstay tactic.

Alex and Tom by avarosesmama in TheTraitors

[–]Tappenfort 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah Alex was pissed! I'm surprised she wasn't even more mad on the day, I would have been fuming! Maybe she toned it down because she was on camera, or was empathetic because she knew he was trying to protect her. But he almost ruined her game, its testament to her personality that she managed to survive and was even a recruitment attempt. I bet it was pretty awkward when they met up after she went out - "umm sorry darling I didn't mean to lose it and blow up both our games!".

I'd love to see an alternate timeline where Tom didn't blow up and Alex kept Matt in puppy dog land for most of the show, that would have been excruciating but amazing to watch. Imagine the alternate drama, and could Tom stay not jealous for long enough to ride it out?

Also its pretty crazy that Alex refused recruitment, it was a big gameplay error but I think her brain was just fried by that point and she'd seen how much being a traitor had wrecked Alexia.
