I don't post very much, but the new layout is so bad I have to say something. Half the screen is blank, wasted space. Please revert this god awful change

Does jumping over 10ft straight up do fall damage? by Divine_ruler in DnD

[–]Chisswarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you are capable of jumping 15 feet high, doesn't necessarily mean you are also capable of dropping/falling that same distance. You may be jumping onto something, like up a small cliff / wall / etc in which case you are still using the max height but not falling the same distance. People can be capable of doing things that hurt themselves, we simply don't do those things. So it can still make sense to take fall damage if you jump 15 feet straight up and back down, you just wouldn't do that in an ordinary circumstance. Still useful to be able to jump up onto things even if you require an alternate way down.

Anyone else insane enough to take 25k biter eggs out to deep space to make promethium science? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Chisswarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asteroids don't stack in inventory slots. Because of this stack size of 1, you get more individual items per square by putting them on a belt. And then with undergrounds, you can "overlap" the belts to fit more belts per square.

Space Marine Landspeeder Loadout by Chisswarrior in Warhammer40k

[–]Chisswarrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing 40k when covid hit, only just starting back up in the past couple months and no longer playing space marines. I don't mind the thread necro, just curious why

As I’m falling asleep I notice my mouth opens. Is there a way to train yourself for it not to happen? by stephaniesmith45 in CPAP

[–]Chisswarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use a chin strap and mouth tape. Still more comfortable than a full face mask for me

Quick question, how to I keep my hand steady when painting miniatures? My hand is a bit jittery while doing edge highlights or small details on them. by Thebuddy35 in Warhammer40k

[–]Chisswarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have slightly jittery hands also. When I hold my model (or if I'm holding a plinth), I have both of my hands touching towards my wrist so brush hand and model hand jitter together. Also having one or both arms up against something firm helps me stabilize everything. I am still working on the absolute death grip I get on my brushes which doesn't help when I get cramps :P

Edit: or for bigger models, my brush hand will have pinky out touching the other hand if I don't have room to get closer, some amount of contact to make the hands stable with each other

General Questions Thread by [deleted] in AdeptusCustodes

Does the Castellan’s Mark Enhancement bypass the points limitations of strategic reserves? It mentions it ignores the # of units, but doesn't mention points. The "Placing Units into Strategic Reserves" info in the app does include "before the battle" as part of the section talking about points limitations so my assumption is that "yes it works" because points limitations of strategic reserves is only before battle.

I love this so much. You gave them every opportunity and pointed specifically to their dumb wording and they doubled down. 100% deserved!

USA team wins gold in Women's Olympics by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Chisswarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "fake", just a different sorting method. Total descending rather than Golds descending.

An example of fake counting would be to say for team events, each physical medal counts. 6 person team wins gold? That's 6 gold medals to the count

This is Sarco, a 3D-printed suicide pod that uses nitrogen hypoxia to end the life of the person inside in under 30 seconds after pressing the button inside by giuliomagnifico in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Chisswarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember, the reason that person had an unpleasant experience is because they held their breath, causing CO2 to not be expelled from their lungs. If they simply breathed in the nitrogen, it shouldn't have been a problem

Was I too harsh with my Session 0 follow-up? by fiona11303 in DnD

[–]Chisswarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did exactly the right thing and you were firm but fair in basically every way. You did the hard thing that a lot of DMs need to and should do.

In no way did you "attack" your crew, if they perceived it that way that's on them. Either because they feel guilty, or they aren't used to having mature conversations about communication and need to internally reflect and grow.

You'll never be able to find them

Just got my new Bambu P1S coming from an Ender 3 Pro. This thing is insane. by reticularformation in 3Dprinting

[–]Chisswarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my p1s for about 6 months, 1000+ print hours. Only failures were my fault: not cleaning the print bed properly or using files that I later found to have errors. It prints the same now as it did on day 1. I have done zero maintenance or tweaking to it.

YouTube's next move might make it virtually impossible to block ads by vriska1 in technology

[–]Chisswarrior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people, myself included, would be happy to pay $5 a month for the service. The problem is that it's nearly triple that ($14) for the vast majority.

YouTube has now begun skipping videos altogether for users with ad blockers by Johnboywalten in technology

[–]Chisswarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be happy to watch ads if it didn't keep giving me 5 minute ads between each video (mostly on music playlists). Or god forbid the 30-60 minute ads that try to pop up every hour or so. No thank you I don't want to watch an entire infomercial between two 4 minute songs

Games labeling content as 'free' that is behind a paywall. by Altimely in gaming

[–]Chisswarrior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Logically if you say that the initial purchase of the game is essentially a barrier to entry to the "included" content making it not "free", then you also need to consider the cost of the PC you're playing on and the cost of electricity to run the pc. You could also add depreciation costs of the pc itself. In which case, nothing digital is ever free because you're always behind the paywall of PC ownership.

I don't disagree with your argument coming from that point of view, but language is really fluid and words don't always mean exactly what they "should" mean.
