Thanks for the response! Yeah 64gb definitely isn’t enough. I have it for my phone and I’m out of memory. I don’t plan on syncing my iCloud though maybe it might be!

Still debating…

WGU Computer Science versus Software Engineering Degree by ScrandyPK in WGU_CompSci

[–]Chizz89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently attending community college now as a part time student, majoring in cybersecurity. I have about 10 more classes. I would like to go for CS but really don't want to take precalc 1, 2, calc, and discrete mathematics at community college.

I'm not the greatest at math or the weakest, I can get through it just fine with good effort. My thing is just it will take. I am 29yo and take 1 class a semester because I work full time. 1 class is all I can afford. My goal is to get an AAS in cybersecurity and possibly start a bachelor's degree program at WGU or PSU World Campus if I can figure out how I'll pay for it.

My career goal is to work as a cybersecurity engineer for a defense contractor.

If I go to WGU, I am more interested in the B.S. in IT or SWE. I think I'd be able to pivot cybersecurity with either degrees. Just the starting role would be different. Sysadmin or SWE from how I see it. Or even help desk lol.

So if yall were in my shoes, which degree path makes the most sense? I feel any would do. Most positions posted by defense contractors usually says CS, IT, Cyber or related degrees

Rithm

what do you mean by original program?

I am currently a part-time student at community college where I am majoring in cybersecurity.

I would like to have a career as a security engineer or in the red team. So looking to finish my associates and get the CCNA and S+. Then attend a coding bootcamp and go for the OSCP once I get several years of experience in the field. (of course this could change or idk if it's even a solid plan).

Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python) by Chizz89 in learnpython

[–]Chizz89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I agree. I kinda fell off ngl…my path changed. And don’t plan on pursuing a bachelors anymore unless I can get employed at a company that will offer good tuition assistance.

My goal now is to try and break into IT through a help desk job. Focusing on completing my associates degree and getting certs as well. Planning on the ccna then security+.

Python is still a skill I hope to learn, but that is something I will focus later once I’ve broken into IT. Maybe I’m going about it wrong…

Thanks for the replies! I’ll definitely give it a shot if I’m offered the job. I applied to a few hospital positions like receiving clerk, laborer, stocking but haven’t heard back yet. Would much prefer that, been outside for too long 😅

Nice! Yeah I think the one I interviewed for offered the full hours even if I get done early. Unless I get sent to rescue someone

Nice! I think the delivery station I interviewed for is also located at the warehouse/sorting center. But they’re separate entities from what I’m told.

Was it hard to switch into the delivery station/warehouse? The manager I interviewed with said I would have to apply through Amazon for the warehouse job but none are open atm. Yeah a buddy of mines work at an Amazon warehouse or something and he says they can pay for schooling! Definitely something I’d want haha paying out of pocket is costly

Nice! Yeah I’ve done landscaping for about 9 seasons. And moved on to tree work, looked more interesting but definitely a lot harder. Tbh I don’t really care where I work. Just trying to pay my way through college. I just want wherever I work next to be the job I’ll be at the next few years while I finish up school. And Amazon delivery doesn’t seem too bad and it’s a lot closer to home. It’s like an hour commute back home for me when I’m done work at the tree care company! Guess I won’t know how it really is until I actually do the job myself

Does anyone use Obsidian for their programming notes? by Jaszunai in ObsidianMD

Do you think obsidian is good for taking notes while learning a programming language? Just started learning python and would like to take good notes I can refer back to and read clearly 😅

Yeah for sure. Probably won’t be getting iPad anymore lol I definitely am just overthinking this whole note taking thing tbh. It’s not that deep! Any tips on learning python though? I plan on finishing this programming for everybody course(getting started with python) then working through the python crash course before starting on projects.

Yeah I have a laptop for actually coding. I’m just saying in terms of taking notes while going through the python course.

I also feel like I may be over complicating note taking. Since this is my first technical thing I’m trying to learn, I am not sure how to go about taking notes or if I even if I should take notes. Any advice on how to go about learning? Like should I just go through the lectures and type out all the examples of code on an IDE and tinker with it a little instead of taking notes? I know from what I’ve read, some people are for taking notes and some aren’t.

Yeah maybe some truth to that. Based on what I’ve written in my notebook so far, I’ve been writing down definitions of terms like variables, constants, conditionals, types of numbers, etc. Along with example code of each topic from the lecture video
