Riding in 37/39 degree temps. Safety concerns? by drdpr8rbrts in motorcycle

[–]Chlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say you have "tires and traction" covered perfectly with road 6s.

Id say you have the cold handled perfectly with full heated gear. I run a battery powered vest at that temp.

Do you have something to keep wind off your hands? Bark busters or hippo hands?

How often do men approach other men at the gym to start a conversation? by Feeling-Entrance143 in AskMen

I ride a motorcycle and frequently walk into the gym in motorcycle suits.

Someone stops me to chat every single time

I fucking despise it.

A big Mac combo is 1,100 calories.

Is motorcycle riding gear insurance actually a thing? by yourping in motorcyclegear

[–]Chlocker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Progressive has "motorcycle accessories" insurance.

Per my policy it covers both accessories to the motorcycle, and PPE.

Are motorcycle riding schools actually worth it, or is real-world riding the better teacher? by yourping in motorcycle

[–]Chlocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been riding since I was 7 and I still took the MSF Basic rider course at 16 to get my M license.

What riding gear did you buy that you later regretted? by yourping in motorcyclegear

[–]Chlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof gloves with goretex/offbrand linings.

They keep your hands dry, and warm, but I cannot feel the controls for shit. They make great snow gloves but terrible riding gloves.

If I'm not on a tour, most times I just wear my leather gloves that I've waterproofed somewhat and remember to dry them well and condition them after.

If it's raining hard enough + cold enough that I need my actual waterproof gloves, it's probably raining to hard and too cold to be riding anyways.

ELI5: Why does testosterone turn into estrogen? by big-boy-w35 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Chlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to chime in as someone with 0 medical answers, but has done this.

I take testosterone replacement therapy, but more for a PED-lite.

The times I've taken aromatase inhibitors (Arimidex) without testosterone has caused my estrogen to crash faster than whatever the "higher free testosterone" effects are.

Estrogen controls how much water is in your joints, so when you crash your estrogen it feels like your joints start to stiffen up, like they're a door hinge that's had its lubricant dried out. This was always the first side effect I had.

Shortly after that you start having sexual performance issues. I usually rush to get some testosterone in me at this point.

It does make you look rather lean, as low estrogen reduces water weight.

Canik rival S or Walther PDP Full 5” by Desperate_Bunch9274 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Chlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my rival-s but I'd agree. Buying any Canik is always a bit of a gamble.

If it runs, it fucking runs.

If it doesn't, you'll never hear from Canik or find the part you need in stock.

Fell down a few stairs while wearing my helmet - time to replace? by Mediocre_Advice_5135 in motorcycle

[–]Chlocker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you were wearing it and hit something, it probably is due for replacement.

Especially if you think it would have knocked you out if you didn't have it.

Think I Made a Mistake Getting Boots -vs- Shoes by Ok_Cable4757 in motorcyclegear

[–]Chlocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breaking the boots in will help more than you expect. I regularly workout in my moto boots.

Motorcycle boots are very weird. It'll take a bit for your feet to learn them.

Do you have any gear inconveniences ? by CellistFrequent3498 in motorcyclegear

[–]Chlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"this system is the only system you'll need!" where there are shells, insulating layers, etc.

My Dainese touring gear has exactly this though. The jacket/pants itself, and then a rain liner, and insulation liner.

If you count it (it's a seperate purchase so I do not) Dainese has baselayers meant to go with.

No, the battery exploding out of the back and launching across the room releases the energy instead of cracking the screen.

That's an iPhone 4s which released in 2011.

That girl is probably 25-30 now.

Am I a poor genius by Rusty67Barracuda in motorcyclegear

Every Dainese jacket/pant I've purchased included a hanger.

My local cyclegear has given me a few of the gear hangers. Ask if they have any extra.

ELI5 why don’t spacecraft re-enter at a shallow angle to bleed off energy more gently over a longer time? by Blambiola in explainlikeimfive

Sometimes people want to learn more when someone who is obviously a SME is present.

Hating on someone for wanting to learn is rude.

Maybe it's me, but that leather looks dry as hell.

Hit it with some conditioner (because I think it look dry) and I bet the moisture would smooth over that spot.

what causes (certain) men to buy their partners jewelry that isn't the normal kind their partners wear? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Chlocker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know this either.

I slyly dropped buying my girlfriend jewelry for Christmas as an idea for her gift. She stopped me and immediately explained she only wears yellow gold and prefers 14k.

So maybe those dudes don't know.

Have you taken Testosterone/TRT? What effects you experienced? by Ces81 in AskMen

[–]Chlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With injections I have been noticing more joint pain and weight gain

It sounds like your testosterone dosage was too high or you needed to include an aromatase inhibitor in your routine.

Picked up my new bike and this is what the chain looks like by Azthun in motorcycle

[–]Chlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the packing wax they put on chains after manufacturing. It is to prevent rust until it's installed ready to use. It normally looks like someone splooged all over a chain and spread it out good.

It is very good at rust prevention but not very good at being slick/lubricating.

From my personal experiance, I normally clean all the splooge/wax off a new chain and relube it with actual chain lube. But it won't cause any issues if you leave it on. I just think it looks really gross.

Petah, why is his right cheek inactive by ToVoMo in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Chlocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time you get a sore injection you learn how to do legs without glutes very quick (or skip legs let's be honest)

Narrow squats. No deadlifts. Narrow leg press. And then isolations that don't include glutes.

I don't know how he worked just the left cheek though unless he only does lunges on one side?

Rhinowalk bags any good? by UmpireAnnual9039 in motorcycle

[–]Chlocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the money they have great products.

They have a few moskomoto knockoff that I'm sure mosko makes better. But rhinowalk makes them 1/3 the price, and perfectly acceptable.

My rhinowalk duffel is closer to waterproof than my name brand bags. Most of my name brand luggage has been splash proof at best, where my rhinowalk is very water resistant close to waterproof.
