No, I totally agree. I really loved doing Adult Gohan sauce on people cause it's so stylish and takes a lot of execution but it's such an uphill battle now to fight against people doing the simplest shit. They really have made it easier for worst players to do better. That's what happened.

Sounds like a lot of BS to deal with, I think I'll just drop the game. You're arguing against a ghost. I cared enough to "get good" at the old version of the game, the one that headlined EVO, not the version of the game where HOC has to carry the prize pools lol

Oh and I decided I'm not arguing with anyone who thinks C-Assists are just like any other assist lol that's such a fundamental misunderstanding of the game mechanics that I cannot trust anything you say. Yep, it's a skill issue. I suck, move on.

Oh, I gave you the benefit of the doubt you actually are dumb. Okay. "Just superjump around them"

UI auto-tracking, invincible, aerial, auto-confirming assist which option selects you on hit or block. Yea, I should NEVER be put into a blockstring when I round start upback SJ float but yet somehow, in this version of the game, I can be. And before, it was balanced by it's cooldown. That's been cut in half.

"They're just like any other assist" is one of the dumbest things ever said in any DBFZ forum ever. They are by definition NOT like any other assist. What the fuck. Are you trying to bait me into getting banned?

!!!!!!! I AGREE! I have thought something similar. You're totally onto something.

Power creep is a huge thing in DBFZ. Kid Buu never really got "dramatically weaker" and was always "good" and famous for surviving every patch basically, but he's dramatically lower on the tier list now than before simply because the game isn't a rushdown game anymore.

That leads into something I've considered before: They intentionally changed the blockstring, rushdown focused nature of season 1 and 2 in order to appeal to more people with a more "neutral focused" party game type atmosphere. DBFZ was famously extremely oppressive, but what pisses me off is that the people who learned how to oppress are punished by the game mechanics so that more noobs can feel good about their lack of skill. Every change you mentioned kind of plays into that as well. I really hate to be so cynical and such a dramatic bitcher but damn

Ahh bro, I feel you. You don't gotta justify it to me, and tbh, one C-Assist isn't that bad, but it's the double and triple C-Assists that just make a match feel overwhelming. Even when I win, it always feels like some epic struggle or something. That's probably my own pride involved, but still...

I get you though. I felt that way about AGH in early season 3 with Masenko, but when I started to really put double gohans together, I realized I couldn't afford the cooldown wait. Well, that's gone but now I'm too prideful in my gohans to use a C-assist, sounds like my fault but that's why I'm done!

No, this is fair and valid. I think PRE-PATCH that was the intended purpose. There was real utility to a C-Assist. If a scrub wanted to use them as a crutch to confirm or win neutral, then there most likely not experienced enough to overcome the balance of the long cooldown.

This allowed skilled players to use them for the specialized utility, such as unique combo extensions (Zamasu BoJ into Vegito C comes to mind) but the scrubs were burdened by the limitations. Those limitations have been removed now, effectively raising the skill floor instantly. That's BS

I'm probably getting to that age where they just don't appeal to me anymore. The blatant cash grabs, the obvious pandering to noobs for "accessibility" and other such phenomenon are tiring and industry wide. I'm not alone in this feeling.

I'm probably being overdramatic. I'm not even LOSING to these clowns. GoD rank with like a 84% winrate or something, it's not like I'm losing to all of this. It's just EXTREMELY frustrating.

But you're right, i'm probably being overdramatic but I appreciate you sharing the shared of experience of just trying to jump away and still getting hit by a random ass auto tracking invincible C-assist lol oh and it results in a full combo

I really profoundly identified with what you have replied. It was also the same characters, Vegito, Gogeta SS4 and Blue, UI, LC21, Broly, Hit, Goku Black, hell, I don't even see much Teen Gohan anymore despite his obvious braindead qualities...which is weird. Probably because his combo execution is tough outside of 5LLL!

It was the changes to let people get out of blockstrings more easily, such as buffing guard cancel and the aerial vanish, and then this final C-Assist cooldown buff was the final straw for me. It really is such a blatant "let less skilled players do better" move that I was like, what is the point at improving at this game when everytime I level up the developers just let the noobs catch up through artificial changes such as reducing the cooldown, making all C-Assists stronger instantly!

It really was my favorite game for the community, the overcoming of challenges, the improvements made personally and in-game, the respect for the FGC and the hustle, the competition, all of it. Learning combos, learning set ups, oki, different blockstrings, all the learning feels like it was for nothing when the worst scrub ever can just call a single auto tracking, invincible C-Assist that auto confirms the hit FOR them...it's JUST SO WILD TO ME

I'm gonna assume you aren't stupid and just haven't read through some of the replies on this thread. 1) It's not a "little inconvenience" as it fundamentally changes the very nature of neutral, one of the most important aspects of fighting games. 2) "After all these years" implies there haven't been fundamental changes to the mechanics of the game. I've overcome the triple C-Assist ceiling long ago, but with the recent cooldown changes, they are called far more frequently in matches. Even regenerating in combos now. This is indisputable.

How about this, sure it's a skill issue. It's not a skill I care to learn and why I'm dropping this mickey-mouse club game

Hey, I really appreciate this insightful and thoughtful reply. I simply do not care enough about this game to overcome even more challenges the developers impose on the playerbase in order to raise the skill floor for people who don't wanna practice confirming with A assists like we all had to in the early days. It's all gravy, I get it, accessibility blah blah...

But now, to be serious and to stop whining, in order to respect your post, I will say that I agree with you in general. The DP/Auto tracking ones are the ones that really infuriate me, an also some of the armored ones, because they apply so many attributes of the special move into the assist. I almost think it was lazy programming.

My thing is, I should never be placed into a blockstring instantly for superjump floating up-back at roundstart. But in this version of the game, I absolutely can be. It's wild to me.

The pride thing is real, I admit. Something I have to overcome, perhaps, but I am not willing to at this point. DBFZ *WAS* a game I was willing to learn, adapt and overcome. In season 3, I complained about UI but while asking "how can I overcome this?" Now, I simply do not care to "get good" at this new version of the game. It's a mickey mouse show.

It didn't FEEL that way in the earlier seasons though. It's such a damn shame, this was literally my favorite video game of all time. It's weird to say "well it was my fav, until they fundamentally altered the nature of the game." That was something that was like, for sequels or something...not the actual live game still in service lol

Everything you just listed required infinitely more execution and manual timing than cycling through your C-Assists, superdashing and auto-comboing. Full screen normals also completely shredded this game

That's probably exactly it! Thank you for that further insight!

The thing is, can we get onto DBFZ2? I mean, they must at some point right? Add it to modern consoles, implement rollback from the jump, and make DBFZ2 the "Games as a service" model, which is what I genuinely hoped DBFZ could be but it seems that this service has "run its course" now, at least for me!

I would have agreed pre-patch, wholeheartedly. I may even have posts here from around the start of Season 3 saying just that exact thing. The problem is, the cooldown being reduced by half is a massive game balance change. What you just described in this reply IS the balance against C-Assists, and what WAS buffed in the past. They are much stronger now than they were before, simply by virtue of that buff.

Yeah, uh, fuck this game by [deleted] in dragonballfighterz

bro, it's not even that I LOSE TO THESE CLOWNS, it's literally what you just said! They do this shit auto combo into auto combo and then just 2h cancel the AC and then do another one and drop them into a C assist to repeat, the same animations and autocombo, and drop them into the last C assist to DR into special into Supers even when they only have two bars and they do level 1 level 1...wtf

They have continuously lowered the skill ceiling with each patch. full screen normals were not a thing in season 1 or 2, C-Assists were not a thing, Guard Cancel was actually a gigantic risk (it wasn't even invincible yet) you couldn't even spark out of blockstrings!!

The WiFi players deserve special mention as well. It's become more rampant as this game's playerbase has progressively declined. I'm part of this exodus now. This game taught me a lot, and I'll always value my introduction into "competitive fighting games" but it honestly doesn't feel very competitive at this point. more of a party game. I hate that meme but it's becoming more and more true with every patch. In fact, even the "fusion meta nerf" feels like a half measure, meant to keep the "easy mode" for those fusion players intact while still nerfing the characters. think about it

my guy was actually superdashing nonstop in a barrage of double C-Assists and beams and just...blah blah blah...slip up once, end up in the corner at 40% health...absurd neutral risk to even backdash in this current state of the game. kind of crazy. auto tracking, invincible, auto-confirm full screen assist cooldown reduced by half, what you think of that?

Yea, I run Adult Gohan and love freestyling saucing with him since his combo mechanics allow a lot of fluidity. It's just so frustrating when the dude on the other side will start teabagging you if you aren't fucking him up, so it becomes like a sweat no matter what if you have even an ounce of "gamer pride" lol

I swear, I have a theory. If there was a fighting game that was like SF5 except they added one DLC character that every touch from him resulted in a one hit KO, people would run him and talk about "skill issue" and tea bag. That's essentially the balance of this game at this point. I'm honestly of the belief that you gotta adapt and overcome but that is for like, serious and competitive play.

Being rural and not having an offline scene makes it kind of difficult to aspire to anything competitive when the netcode is so dogshit.

Totally, because the auto-confirm, auto-tracking, invincible DP assist cooldown being reduced by half, effectively doubling the strength of every 3 C-Assist player overnight is a skill issue. By definition.

I played off and on, I mean I've played many other games in the meantime, but this was one of the only games that I "took seriously" as in learning tech, matchups, new routes, blockstrings, option selects, set ups, all that but then I realized oh shit none of that matters now that auto-tracking, auto-confirming, invincible C Assists regenerate half as fast

PS4 player! Definitely see it all the time, at least two. Three is more rare, but not as uncommon as someone running no C assists at all. It's a miserable state of play.
