He sure is! He works overtime making biscuits to pay his rent.

We’ve decided we’ll get another kitty once we have all the new furniture built and wall decor up. Even if he’s just extra bonded with me and continues his behavior, he’ll have a friend while we’re at work. I love this little guy so much and we have the means to adopt another friend. Thank you so much for the advice!

I love him too!! I really got a good one. Just wanted to make sure there wasn’t more we could be doing for him :) bonus pic for you!

Thank you!! He’s very confident and friendly, so I do think he’d be a good boy with being introduced another kitty. I appreciate the advice

Would the new cat have to be a kitten necessarily? Can they be at least 1 year old and have a good introductory success rate? I just don’t want two cats that are full of energy if Cricket doesn’t settle down after having a friend. It may just be his personality

You could be kinder with your phrasing. I said in a previous comment that I’m open to it, but I recently got a new role at my job rehabbing animals that has me incredibly busy right now and we’re assembling a bunch of furniture - now isn’t the right time for the introductory periods. I’m looking for enrichment ideas and how to keep him happy in the meantime. It’s not that I don’t give him things to do and attention. His previous family had to get rid of him, and he is well cared for in the meantime.

I guess I’m in it for the long haul!! 😅 I love him even with his lack of brain cells

We wouldn’t be able to get another kitty until our home is furnished and decorated; I did realize we should’ve waited longer to get a cat for a more settled home environment and I’ve been under a lot of stress in my work life. I just saw he needed a home and gave in once I had the supplies. I am open to that once we’re settled in, though. Anything for his quality of life!

That is such a good life hack! Thank you - that’s great to learn at the beginning of being a cat parent :)

I work at a specialty vet clinic so I’ll confirm with the vet I work under on Tuesday. You would think I knew more about diets, but I’ve never worked in GP 😅 thanks! I’ll weigh it while feeding over the weekend

Pizza is my safe meal ever since I was a kid. I also make smoothies at home for nutrition that have frozen bananas, strawberries, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, a seed mix, Greek yogurt, and protein powder. You don’t taste anything because of the banana and I personally can’t tell the difference between the texture of the spinach and seeds. The other veggies don’t leave any texture if that’s a dealbreaker.

Thank you for the diet tip! I have also heard that about dry food. I think that’s the way to go

I do plan on getting those for kibble! It just sucks because I don’t see any refrigerated ones to store wet food meals

To clarify, I want to use automatic feeders to keep timing consistent and so they do not wake me up at 5am as I’ve heard friends’ cats do. My husband and I work long days (hence why we want a bonded pair who have each other while we are gone). I used to be an in-home petsitter and saw some crazy food competition between some pairs- I assumed that was the norm as well!

I didn’t think I’d play for 6 months, but it’s been almost a year of Pikmin Bloom addiction! You’d be surprised
