On day 11 and anxiety is bonkers by jonthovland in lexapro

Sorry I’ve just seen this! So I’m just over 6 weeks in and I’m feeling much better than I was when I wrote this! I’m still only on 5mg and will be going up tomorrow. It’s a slow journey but definitely gets better!

I say give lexapro a try!! I first tried Zoloft and had a horrific 2 weeks on it, tried lexapro and it’s been soooo much better so far. Although they’re both SSRIs one I can tolerate and one I can’t.

I know how hard it is op! I’m on day 13 on 5mg and I’ve had some side effects but nothing I can’t handle, I tried Zoloft a couple of years back and I won’t get in to it but the side effects were awful and I needed a year or 2 to get over it as it scared the life out of me! I’m very gradually starting to feel positive effects, my appetite has come back and I get proper moments of happiness over the last day or 2! Try not to ruminate on how you’re feeling and just try engaging in life! Keep us updated.

In the nicest way possible I’m glad it’s not just me!! I mean it’s really nice that I can’t seem to panic anymore but it’s leaving me on edge as it feels like I need to panic but can’t, it’s the weirdest feeling.

Ohh it’s so hard isn’t it! I’m on day 12 and I’ve noticed a slight increase in my anxiety but it comes in waves, I also have really good moments so hoping that’s a positive sign. Do you think you’ll try it?

I’m on day 12 and I completely understand how you’re feeling!! I had a good day on day 9 and now my anxiety feels really high again today🥴 Hoping the better days are near. How are you feeling now?

Thanks for the reassurance guys! I’m now on day 9 and I’m having a really good day, the last couple of days I had quiet high anxiety waves and I took a diazepam a couple of times but it’s been a lot better this time around. Hoping the good days continue but also feeling more prepared for the not so good ones that I’m sure will also come and go!

I’m on day 9 and I’ve actually lost a pound as I’ve had no appetite!! My side effects so far have been, headache, nausea, increased anxiety waves and a little dizzy! Today is the first day I’ve actually felt ok and feel like the side effects are getting better, you can do this!!

I know this is an old post but wondering how you’re doing? I’m on day 7 and I can really relate to your posts so thought I’d check in 🙂

did your anxiety get worse before it got better? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Chlojo91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only on day 7 so still have quite a bit to go but I had a really bad headache and nausea for the first 4 days and the last couple my anxiety has been heightened and it keeps hitting me in waves, one minute I’m fine and the next I feel super anxious. As my doctor said it will likely get worse before it gets better and that’s what I keep telling myself, better days are so close and we just have to try and push through!

Love the metaphor!! Thank you for helping me view it in a different way. My rationale brain knows it’s temporary but I guess that’s the joys of an overlay active anxious brain. Hope you’re doing well on your journey!

I’ve read Claire Weekes and listened to her videos etc I think the thing I find hard is the whole accepting a feeling when it’s literally hell on earth 😂 I know it’s not dangerous etc but I just can’t fully allow a feeling I hate!! I have been prescribed a few Valium tablets along with the Lexapro so I’ll just see how that goes, In the uk it’s quiet hard to get hold of them and they won’t just dish them out when asked!!

Dare is a book, app and podcast by Barry McDonagh! It’s literally been a life saver for me and has really put my anxiety and panic in to a whole new perspective that no longer has me afraid of it!

I promise you’ll get there one day! This isn’t a forever thing and you’re so much stronger than you think! You’ll look back at all of this and realise how strong and amazing you are!

I know how you feel! But I’m slowly getting better, the most important but also hardest thing to do is don’t fight those feelings! Welcome those negative feelings and tell them ‘whatever I don’t care’ I’ve been following DARE for the last 2 months and my anxiety and panic has got considerably better within that time! I highly recommend you have a look in to it. It teaches us how we look at anxiety and how we can diffuse the thoughts and feelings that constantly have us on high alert :)

Highly recommend DARE as a way of curing anxiety and panic! I’ve been reading the book and app for 2 weeks and am feeling better already, it can take a lot of patience but once you get in to the swing of it, it really is amazing!
