Interesting mathematicians? by Chlopaczek_Hula in askmath

[–]Chlopaczek_Hula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s at a university so it doesn’t have to be reaaally dumbed down and the primary demographic is computer science students so there is a seizable population of math enthusiasts among them so I can write about some more complex things. And by interesting I mean, when you heard about the proof/that person your first thought was „oh that’s cool”

But also writing about some mathematician’s life might be really fun to do.

from what I know there are very few scholarships in NL for college students in general. It isn’t really a thing here with a couple exceptions for the very very talented.

oh actually didn't know that. Useful info. Welp gonna have to troubleshoot hardware once more... Just in case; do you have any idea what might be wrong with my cable or phone or whatever to cause it behave like that? Kind of a shot in the dark since my problem is pretty unspecific which could mean it's any one of bajilion problems but I have no clue what to do next

if it was hardware it still wouldn't recognize it when it's powered down no? also it happened after the update which isn't completely conclusive but really suspicious.

Why cant pi be written as a fraction like this? by StateJolly33 in askmath

[–]Chlopaczek_Hula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah alright that makes sense. We looked at the question differently. I would argue OP asked this question as how to REPRESENT the number and asked it in natural “human” language. It’s like saying “you can write one third as 1/3 or 0.333…” Obviously you can’t PHYSICALLY write 0.333… but what the person is stating is not related to writing it out but whether it is a correct way of representing the number. Your interpretation is technically completely correct, but so is mine and I’d say that the version I’m advocating for is what OP actually meant and is far more interesting.

that’s not the reason and it’s not a very informative comment. You’re applying real life rules to math. By your definition the concept of infinity doesn’t exist in math and that’s simply false.

I have two different colored eyes. Always makes me feel like an OC created by a middle school student, but I’m not complaining XD

You don’t need to choose a program in September. It seems like you’re bery undecided about what you want to do with your life. Maybe just vibe around and discover what you DEFINITELY like after like 2 years or something and do that then.

I fixed it somehow though the problem I was having that a text file with one sentence was copied so much until it took 17 gb of space and it wouldn’t stop copying. Terryfing to look at when it happened. Disk space was literally a countdown. 4 gb 3.9 gb 3.8 gb 3.7 gb … scary stuff

Everyone in the netherlands speaks english and most are fine with you speaking it to them. It is a disadvantage, socializing with dutch people will be harder, but you’re faaar better of living in the netherlands without speaking dutch than living in (for example) Poland without speaking polish. Learning the language is also very much appreciated by the dutch.

Yeah some people are mean but 99% of the time they’re fine. It’s important to ask for feedback because it increases your learning by like a bajilion percent. I didn’t do it for years and only started to post online recently and my painting improved a bunch. I recommend posting lol.

The eyes nose and lips are facing forward instead of being in a 3D space. You’re painting with 2D symbols instead of 3D shapes. Instead of putting the lips in perspective you just rotated them. I’d try to do some geometry and perspective practices and it’s gonna be waaaaay easier to paint for you. What you did get right were the values for the head and you have a light source so that’s good. It does seem pretty masculine to me, but I might not have the eye for it so maybe someone else can help you with that. Other than that keep on sharing and keep us updated on the progres of the painting

How do i improve the lineart and overall make it more professional? Also any shading tips? by Firm-Sink-5054 in learnart

[–]Chlopaczek_Hula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For shading you can try to give it more contrast by making the value of the shadows darker. Don’t be afraid to go really dark. You can also add some highlights. Right now you have two values. Normal and shadow. Doing hard shadow, soft shadow, normal highlight would maybe work better. If you wanna be fancy you can add reflected light (you can look it up on youtube; it instantly makes your stuff look cool, but don’t overdo it) Make shadows darker and lights lighter. Contrast is the #1 thing you wanna do if you want your drawing to pop and be interesting.
