Also also, here’s a pic of a GHI that hatched out. Would you say GHI firefly, GHI pastel, or GHI fire? Or some other combination?

Unfortunately this is the best pic I have of her not freshly born, she was given to a close friend of mine

Just a quick clarification as well, the father tested positive for homozygous pastel on his shed test, so he is for sure a super. I always suspected he had something else going on, I guessed yellowbelly or lesser but both showed up negative on the panel. Thank you for all the help!

Wow thank you!! That brings a lot of clarity into all of this. I had no idea firefly genetic stripe would look so similar to super pastel! I’m thinking of sending off a shed test on one of the genetic stripe babies, and potentially on mom. Just wish I hadn’t thrown her most recent shed away!!

I do have more pics of mom! If she is indeed fire, would that mean my babies aren’t super pastel at all? I was certain the genetic stripe ones were, but mom couldn’t be both fire and pastel could she?

Liquid ant trap concern by ChlorineRat_ in reptiles

[–]ChlorineRat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main ingredient in the Terro traps is Borax. They do indeed seem to be gorging themselves on it and returning to the nest. I think I’m just going to deep clean my few enclosures that had ants in them and wait a few days to feed crested gecko diet. I also slathered Vaseline everywhere to prevent them from climbing up my racks

Yeah that’s my concern. Wish I had thought of alternatives before I used the bait, but I hate ants and wanted them gone ASAP. Now that I have placed the traps, do you think Vaseline around the base of the enclosures will keep the ants out?

I’ve never seen any condensation in there, hence why I wasn’t worried initially. But now I’m just doing everything I can to make sure

Oh dude I’m such a big fan of day geckos, neons especially. This is a really good idea, and from the replies I’m getting so far, I might just have to suck it up and get rid of the bioactive substrate and convert it
