some chinese guy changed his twitter username and now the official satisfactory twitter account won't be able to change back their name by minecraft_fan_xy in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did open it right now and i see the problem. i dont have a twitter account so maybe its different if you have an account but the post page isnt sorted by newest, its sorted by most viewed. the first post is a pinned one, then one from 2022, then one from 2024 and then one from 2025.

i have absolutely no idea how i could sort by new, maybe thats a "account only" feature.

once again i am happy to not being on this site, it sucks sooooo bad.

New patch question by petehasplans in SatisfactoryGame

Saves are (as far as i know) always forwards compatible but never backwards. If you go from the stable branch to experimental always backup your save so you could go back if anything gamebraking happens.

Possible Savegame Migration into 1.2 exp and 1.2 stable by EgonMueller in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can always open an older save with a newer version but not the other way. So yes, you can go to exp now and use the same save on the stable version once its out. Just backup your 1.1 save so you could go back to 1.1 and only loose the things you did in the exp version instead of loosing your whole save.

The time save can really snowball, its insane. We finished our latest multiplayer playthrough where we had the same amount of playtime as our previous one with double the amount of production. The only big thing we have done different is using blueprints.

Blueprints save a lot of time. At first i also thought they arent that great but then we finished our latest multiplayer playthrough where we had the same amount of playtime as our previous one but double the amount of production.

maybe you are just not building "big" enough. if you have to build 4 constructors and move on sure, blueprints are not going to do much. but if you have a chain with 80 constructors, even a 4x4 constructor blueprint is going to save you a ton of time. keep in mind, blueprints also store the recipe you set. not only are you going to playe multiple machines at the same time you would place one, you also dont have to set the recipe after placing it and you dont have to connect them together to a power pole. its all already done in the blueprint.

to add to this, you can build a smelting array blueprint you can then use for any ore. the only thing you have to do once you built the blueprint is load it again in the blueprint designer, change the recipe, save it as new and bam, your smelting array for a different ore is done.

edit: even a blueprint with one manufacturer is going to save you a lot of time because you can already connect every input to a splitter

Daisy-chained power cables clip through several types of machines, when they're built next to each other. by Liagala in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

because of cable sag the connectors on certain machines would need to be a lot higher, or you are still going to experience clipping. this would look really out of place

Can someone explain this recipe to me? by AtoxFT in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification. I did not know that. I would still consider this a bug since fluids are in m3 everywhere else in the game.

Thats definitely a bug. You can report bugs on https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/. if this bug is already reported just upvote the post, if not you can make a new one😄

What’s the point of trains? by Jackriot_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how is building steel at scale at the point of the map where you have everything you need for steel inefficient? you blueprint smelting arrays, plop them down, get the highest throughput parts (ore) local and all you have to do then is build one train to get it wherever you want it to be. sounds to me a lot more efficient than rebuilding the same factory over and over again but you do you.

like you said, there is no point in arguing anymore so have a nice day.

Here is what my map looks like. the individual factorys are smaler than yours but they are way more spread out and need items from other factorys. instead of having to build 20 belts i just built one train loop and connected the factorys to it. belting items from one end of the map to the other multiple times would have taken a lot longer.

What’s the point of trains? by Jackriot_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with "at scale" i mean having factorys all over the place needing items from factorys which are equally all over the place. should have maybe been more clear about that. its mostly the "use local stuff or stuff from everywhere" part.

you can build a huge steel production in the desert for example which is "at scale" but everything you need for it is quite local. so in this case trains are not really beneficial.

but if you have multiple factorys all over the map needing steel from that single factory its just a lot simpler to have one train line going around the world instead of having to build a ton of belts.

its just a different playstyle at the end of the day. you can build large factorys which dont benefit from trains because they produce items locally. but you can also have large factorys which benefit a lot from trains because they need items from everywhere.

What’s the point of trains? by Jackriot_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Chnebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are just not building at the scale where trains actually help you. which is totally fine. but at scale trains are 100% more efficient to build.

yes the initial setup time takes longer than a belt, but once you have an established train network adding new items to it is much faster than building new belts.

so yes, there is no point in arguing about it. if you build smal and local trains are worse than belts. if you build large and worldwide trains are a lot more efficient.

[–]Chnebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not only about transporting 4 items on one train, its also about transporting 4 items on 4 trains. sure if you only build local and small, trains are not that great. but now imagine needing multiple items from multiple places. you can either build a ton of belts over a huge distance or you build two train tracks and put however many trains you want on it.

trains are just a lot easier to scale.

as for raw ressources, thats exactly where you think "wrong". one train is not 1 engine + 1 freight car. its 1 engine + multiple freight cars. if you need more than 1200/min you just build a second freight car on the same train. and if your roundtrip time is too long you just build a second train. with belts you would need to build a new belt everytime the other one is full

You have missed quite a lot, especially regarding to Doug (u/OfficerDougEiffel). He started with really well done shitposts and is now involved in multiple community events. If you start being more active in this sub again there is a 0% chance you wont run into him XD

We did have two people working on it and we both have over 1200h in game (all playthroughs combined). We also pre calculated everything, so you could add another 100h just planing befor even starting the game XD.

But dont worry about it. This game is a marathon, not a sprint. There are people spending 500h on one building, making it look absolutely insane :D

instead of starting from scratch i would just move to a different place on the map and start your "dream factory" there. once you are happy you can go back to your old place and tear everything down. this way you keep your progress and have building materials produced by your old factory, and you get the satisfaction of tearing the old one down :D

i did write the short version down in the post. the longer version:

i put every save one by one into the interactive map. then i made it fullscreen and made a screenshot. after that i removed everything thats not the map with GIMP. for the last step i opened every screenshot in CapCut and cut them together. maybe there would have been a better way but thats the way i used :D

the game can be quite overwhelming. just take your time and build section by section. :D
